Jeez, that's awful. I hope you recover quickly. I have zero tolerance towards hit and run drivers. We sometimes think that these things happen to other people but as you've shown, it can happen to any of us at any time.

Just reading through this and with the others totally shocked.

No truth in the rumour that you had bought an electric car then ;)

Don’t know how one human can drive away knowing someone else is hurt. Shocking and wishing you a full recovery as soon as possible. All the best

That quite a worrying number , with all the technology they have today how can 4% still be driving about uninsured, you'd think ANPR would pick them up easily enough

I’ve just read this Dave and glad you’re on the mend. Boils my **** this sort of thing, if they find the cretin that did it he/she should be locked up and the key thrown away!

It is not difficult, a large proportion of them will believe they are insured but may well be driving on an expired licence or with a reportable medical condition or incorrect declarations made to their insurers etc.

Others will be the scumbags driving cars they 'bought off a guy in the pub' (probably knowing it was nicked but making that declaration when caught means they don't get done for handling stolen goods!) for a few quid and will never have a license to loose anyway.

Still more will be on foreign plates but over here for more than the permitted time.

Wishing you a speedy and full recovery. I wonder if the driver was texting or on social media at the time. Far too prevalent in my opinion.

Just heard from the police the vehicle involved was fully legal... does make you wonder why the driver didn't stop
Apparently the car has now been impounded for forensic tests, the police had already taken all my clothes, shoes etc while I was still in hospital

Just can't understand why the driver didn't stop he must have known he had hit you.
Let's hope it all gets dealt with swiftly and you get back to full health mate.

Dave

If he was drunk, he might have thought it better to risk a 'falling to stop' (up to 6 months in jail) than taking a certain 'driving over the limit' (and maybe a risk of 'causing death by dangerous driving').

Probably just guilty panic.

Sorry to hear about your injuries.
