Crikey, that doesn’t look like fun at all!
I have seen the damage and old fashioned Cats Eye (basically a cast iron brick) can cause if they are dislodged and flipped up, years ago one of our company vans was written off by one !!

That makes no sense - if you have fully comprehensive insurance surely this is a valid claim -
After-all hitting an animal can write a car off, none of us could afford to drive our cars if hitting a animal was counted as an uninsured loss.
I don't have a fully comprehensive insurance, unfortunately. I have just law insurance for the damages I cause to others, not for me.
Yes, it's a mistake not having it, now I got the lesson...

Ah - that makes complete sense then

Hope you can get it sorted without having to spend a fortune.

Was genuinely shook up after it lol. Don’t think I’d have known anything about it if it hit the window. I found the block must have weighed 20kg or there abouts.

Fair play to the insurance person at admiral they could tell I was in some adrenaline rush or something and were great on the phone when I pulled over lol

GBP1,048 each (from China)

or if it is just the cover you need:

The covers are pretty ok, scratched but not broken. It's the rear part of both that has broken

They are £1930 on Scuderia Car Parts, so about 2300 Euro. They might offer a discount if you ask nicely, but it won’t make a big dent in it.

Yeah, when I first got a QPV, a mate was 'bragging' about how expensive replacement lights were for his DB9 (£1,200), so I looked up Maserati prices and 'won' that round.

Is it just the tabs that have broken off? These can be reattached if not in a million pieces.
they're broken in the bodies, one is in a million pieces, other one may be with some glue and some hand-crafted bracket could be repairable. Considering the cost I'll certainly try to repair this one.

All modern headlight units are expensive these days, what with self levelling and LED fairy lights on even the cheapest runabout. Add to that Maserati tax and its not surprising you're at the price points above. No one every said running a Maserati was cheap and I would never consider running one with out fully comprehensive insurance or maybe even a warranty for this reason.

Hope you can find a solution, probably just a case of finding a breaker with the right car but even then supply and demand will push the price high

As said, this was the lesson for me...
Will look for a solution, in the meanwhile the car will stay out of the road. Even I can afford the cost there's no way I'll put all that money in 2 headlights, that's for sure

You are caught between a rock and a hard place. I would recommend some classic car restorers who may know how to go about a repair or a replacement unit.

Another might be a car breaker here, in the US or Australia.

Failing that, there are very few options than to shell out the 5k you quoted. I have no idea if those chinese copies are any good.

When you say broken, are the lenses broken of have the tabs snapped and the lights rattle?

If so, you can repair them with a hot stapler, we do it all the time and its nice and solid and you can't see the repairs.

sorry the car is at the shop for reparing the bumper and the bonnet, and will probably stay there until when I don't find a solution for the headlights.
Anyhow as said the lenses are pretty ok, both headlights are cracked in the backside (left one has fallen down into the bumper)
