Chaps

Finally in a position to make the leap into Maserati ownership. Still torn on what to buy, but a GranCab may be where I end up.

Anyone know anything about the car below or had dealings with Imperials?

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201803214787534?atmobcid=soc3

Guidance and advice welcome. Looks like they have had it for a while.

Graypaul have another that is at top of my price range

Thanks

Andy

A friend of mine used to work for Imperials. He always said the thing that frustrated him most, was the fact that they never prepped the cars before the went on the forecourt.
They would then factor in the prep cost into the sale.

I know a lot of dealers do these days but it didn't sit well with him. Nor me for that matter.
If the figures, history and condition work out then why not?

With Graypaul you have main dealer back up.

On my flat drive there is a relief gap of 23.5 cm from the drive to the bottom edge of the registration plate of my QPV.
This matters because there is just enough clearance to get the car in my garage over a short but relevant incline. So the Q is what is the gap from the ground to the bottom of the registration plate on a GT? (please)
Easy solution. Keep it in the boot. :excellent:

Looks a nice example. Great spec, being the Sport model, with the additional MC Sportline kit and MC-Sport-Shift gearbox. That'll be a fantastic car to potter about in come the summer, and I imagine they'll be more likely to do a deal on price now than in, say, a months time. If it's at all near to you, go take a look.

It’s not the Sport model, it’s the 12MY with Sport Pack.

Are you sure? It's a 2012 car, and the glove-box badge says GranCabrio Sport, as per the 2012 brochure I'm looking at. I agree that it's not the later Sport model that had the different front end, but it does look to be the "series one" version of the GC Sport. But I could well be wrong, as let's face it, Maser have made this complicated!

But as a note to the OP, have you seen the blue GranCarbio-MC that a forum member is advertising on here at £59,995. That's the cheapest I've ever seen a GC-MC for sale and looks a stunning car. If you have the extra £10k, that's the one I'd go for.

Correct Ewan, they labelled the 2012 MY cars as Grancabrio Sport albeit not the facelift full on Grancabrio Sport.

Ewan,

unfortunately my man maths calculator said "need new batteries" when I tried to stretch that far. The Graypual one is at the top of what I want to spend at the moment.

That blue one is stunning though.

I need to go and drive one, as when I spoke with @dickygrace he mentioned they suffer from scuttle shake quite a bit. I am not after something to rag around, but having had a few cars that suffer, I need to see if I could live with it.

@GeoffCapes thanks for the heads up sir. That leaves me feeling a little cold about them. They are close though, so I think will venture out to go and see it.

Obviously the bigger the roof area the bigger the scuttle shake. Two seater always better than a four seater in this regard. Mind the GC is a looker, is practical (if you use the back seats as a boot) and as others have said will probably depreciate lightly.

I am confused. Maserati appear to be good at that. So it is a good thing or not a good thing?

I do this for a living and still learn something I didn’t know about them every day. Maserati have always upgraded cars in step changes as they run through the model range. They then facelift the cars (in the case of the GT&GC 3 facelifts, 4 models if you count the new one they’re building now) and make it unbelievably difficult to ascertain what’s what re models and MY cars within those confines. They then have optional packages such as MC Sportline, Sport Pack, Handling Pack; and that’s before you even start looking at Stradales and GCMC’s. It’s terribly confusing for those new to the marque.

Yup, totally confused.

I think the quick way to identify the facelift is the updated front seat design.. Not on this car - so pre facelift. So far as I was aware the facelift had a little extra HP .. the MC software in the Auto's (stopped them changing up when redlined on the paddles as well as blips on downshifts), and I'm pretty sure the suspension was tweaked too.

Well, a good start from Imperials. Contacted on Friday, 2 promises of confirming that I can see the car today and nothing........Seems they are not really bothered in taking peoples money.
