I hadn't realised you are such a keen detailer - she came up very well with a thorough wash, decontamination (iron-X & Tardis) followed by a clay, polish & wax. Can't wait to see how good she will look after a machine polish - the coloured flecks in Nero carbonio are stunning in direct light!

Good job. Lovely finish.

My today was spent similarly - wash, dry, IronX then agitate, rinse, Maguiars clay cloth, rinse, Autoglym HD wax. The wheels each had two coats of Swissvax Autobahn and two more of Poorboys. No particular reason for that mix of wheel sealants, other than I just fancied it. In any case, they came up well.

I have dropped CA$H on detailing gear - there always seems to be a product that does something! I thought it had been clayed as it came out so well! I'll do it again as part of the bigger process though it doesn't really need it.

My plan is to use CG V32 by hand on heavy scratches especially the door pulls and a few other ones. This will be followed by an all over machine cut with V34, a hybrid polish with V36 and mirror polish with V38. This will then get stripped with CarPro eraser and a coat of Pete's.

I sound like I know what I'm doing - I've watched enough Youtube to talk the talk but thats about it!

Haha! Likewise. I've bought a DA and a rotary but I'm too scared to use them on anything! I keep meaning to get a scrap panel to practice on but never get round to it. I find that I can get a decent finish by hand given enough time, but it takes a lot of that and my hands hurt afterwards. I'm also a sucker for a detailing product. Iron-x is fun to use, but my new favourite is my set of wheel woolies - absolutely indispensable in my detailing kit now!

I bought the Chemical Guys sample kit and a dodo juice DA machine (Kestrel re badged). If you want to do a single step polish then V36 is the thing, you cannot damage your paintwork. See youtube videos "Chemical Guys Single Stage Polish". Get the right hex logic pad and your away.

One thing I learnt today is less is best with Carnauba wax. If you let it cure too long and its too thick it is near impossible to get off. Frightening when you have just spend half a day cleaning the car to get the wax on! I had that on a warm bonnet and the roof. Today was sunny and windy which didn't help.

Your car is looking great, congratulations - it's always good to buy a new car at this time of year, lots of hours for tinkering in the warm - have fun

I had 2 Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrical 2s put on the back (one of my Uniroyal's had split and went flat). They look much more sturdy and have a lip to save your rims a bit. £220 a piece fitted, don't know if thats good but I was desperate and STS were very helpful.

If you want some fronts i have a pair with 7.5mm on (8mm is new) for £200 the pair. See the classifieds.

Soinds like the beast is coming along nicely.

Oh, loving the show plates :)

Don't be afraid to use a DA chaps, it's the rotary polisher instead that needs to be used with care (or by the pro detailers). I've had my DA for maybe 10 years and have used it on all our cars over the years, it's priceless, does an excellent job of polishing (saves the pain you get with hand polishing). Because the DA oscillates, you can't burn through the paint.

I need to clay the car again as recently had wheel hubs sprayed and now have got some small overspray on the body - arghh! After claying, will then use LimePrime Lite and finish with Swissvax Mirage which gives a lovely finish. A nice technique I've picked up from detailing world is to apply the wax on the palm of your hand which works well and prevents from applying anything more than a film of wax - also a nice way to get to know your Maserati better.... ;-)

i know they look great after all that work, but why spend so long when you can get out there and do what these magnificent machines were made for....DRIVE.
I think that shows my lack of patience for detailed cleaning.. If I get spare time I want to hit the road...
It's not a criticism btw....

Stunning car!!As SimonCC said, don't be afraid of the DA,you really can't go wrong!A rotary isn't dangerous either but it cuts paint so much quicker, and you could end up with holograms if not careful, but a rotary is the tool to use if you want to eliminate all deep scratches. The DA is perfect for refining after the rotary.

Part of the reason I bought the car was for something to look after and nurture, and the weekly wash n wax is all part of that.

Its rather like a child where you keep having to buy it things and financially support it for the rest of its life.

Swear by Random Orbital polishers.

Have used mine on all my cars.

Excellent at removing deeper scratches on paint.

Would have given up trying to get the scratch out by hand otherwise.
