Hi there, I just joined the forum hoping someone could help out here. Sofar the German and US forums have interesting contributions but no clear diagnosis or solution. But sorry: Let me start with the problem: I got recently a Granturismo, bj 2008, 35000 miles, 12 month warranty with my dealer.
The car had two problems: the Navi did not work and a strange noise with the engine.
The car was 2 weeks back with my dealer. The Navi works now - but needs more than 5 minutes to start up.
With regard to the noise they changed some wheels or rolls....but the noise is still there.
The noise only is there when the engine is on operating temperature. There is no strange noise at all when the engine is cold. The noise disappears when pulling out the oildip stick and reappears when putting the dip stick back in. Sofar I got some feedback that this might be PCV related, the crankshaft has apparently underpressure, hot oil (warm engine) is pulled to some parts of the crankshaft not lubrifying other parts hence creating this mechanical noise. Pulling the dip stick or driving would eliminate the underpressure: hence no noise
I am a layman and therefore can only summarize what I was told. My dealer has not yet had this problem with other Maseratis, but well with BMW.
Here is a link to Youtube with my strange noise: Hopefully someone can help me out heer. Thanks. T.
