Thanks Chris. I'm just about to take three years out to retrain as a leadership psychologist, so although I'll be doing the odd bit of consultancy work to top up my income, I don't want to add finance to the mix for this purchase. I know I'm not doing this the smartest way. But, if I can de-risk it sufficiently, I can cover most eventualities out of income, if that makes sense.
Check A/C compessor is ok with no play or noise. Its a weak part but many ££££
Car looks good from the pictures. You like your red interiors don't you!
I don't know where I stand on them. Having once had an Alpina B10 with just red leather stitching in various places, I liked it. With these kind of cars, it seems to go with the territory and I don't find a red interior offensive at all.
I'm just not sure if I could live with it or not.
Get it on an MOT ramp and check for uneven tyre wear, play at hubs, tie rods, arms and shock damage. Being heavy cars they eat Tyres and suspension parts very quickly. They are also heavy on brakes so well worth checking. Listen to the car from cold and I mean not started for 24 hours (arrive unexpected) particularly paying attention for any kind of rattle with the bonnet up, this will tell if the variators need doing. Check everything works switches , air con, cruise , xenons, parking sensors. Everything on the car will cost you to fix so make sure you factor it all in!
My advice is buy dealer mate as you have at least consumer rights for you.
