Well hello rebels!

I was wondering why the other pommie forum had cooled down - I thought it was just more cold weather and you were all toasting your toes in front of the log fire sipping mulled claret...

Still hot and dry here (Perth, Western Australia) though we had a doozie of a storm a week ago. We live on top of a hill (has its drawbacks!) and were watching it approach directly from the north with some anxiety - but luckily the main cell veered off to the west - we still got half a dozen lightning strikes all round the house within 500m despite the late reprieve. Naturally my main concern was for the Mazzi tucked up snug under its cover in the garage - no damage - all is well!

Was a good thing we were not out on the road with nowhere to hide - the northern and western suburbs also got hit with massive hailstorms - cars and houses wrecked all over the place - $200m plus damage they reckon.

Here's a link to some vids on the local rag site - couple of good ones - love the guy with the Ned Kelly metal bucket on his head:

Hi Phra , Rebels hahah , yeah but we have a cause, great to see you have popped in , your more than welcome , aim to make it a comfy place to while away an evening or two, each week, good news to hear that the masser survived the bad weather , just had a quick look some serious bad storms , that could make me cry , discovering my masser looked like it had been beaten with a ball pain hammer , good news is with these cars that the panels are quite thick ,against some of the newer lesser cars of today , you only had to breath on the wings or bonnet of my RX8 to cause a dent, looking forward to hearing you exploits and helping out where we can

regards loz

Hi loz
Don't think thick panels would have helped much - golfball plus size hailstones.
Just come across another vid of a guy caught driving in the worst of it. He starts off quite cocky (obviously thinking could opportunity for a youtube vid - starts to get less cocky as the hailstones get bigger and bigger!

Not always boring; some may remember 1983, when we had hail like that, in Dorset.
The roof of my old Renault 18 estate was peppered with small dents (and still is as it still exists).
I kept some hail stones in the freezer for ages as a reminder...pathetic eh?
