Hi folks,

I've just (yesterday) bought a 4200 CC and after a joyful 100 miles of troublefree driving, things have gone a bit wrong. To cut a short story shorter, Picked up the car yesterday drove home and on the way stopped off to pick up something, got back in car and the drivers door open light stayed on despite the door being closed. The window stayed down that little bit to allow the door to close etc. So I opened\closed the door again and all seemed well. Then after a few minutes of driving the door open light came on again and the window started going up\down. Now stop at a junction and she keeps going into neutral as the door isn't registered as closed. Eventually mange dto get her home and closed the window of the driver side while in the passenger side. got out and locked her up for the night. Now this morning came down to put a parking ticket on and the window dropped when I tried to open the drivers door. Happy days I thought. However, when I closed the door it's still saying its open and the window didn't close. Even worse the windows (both sides) now don't do anything when using the buttons to open/close. The central locking doesn't seem to work either. Pressing the key fob doesn't seem to do anything. So I now have a car parked on the street with it's window a little bit open and it looks like rain!

Hoping that the wise folks here might know something about this or at least how I can windows working again!

Cheers,

Kenny

There's a way of resetting the locks but I've forgotten what it is. You could try resetting the battery which is a switch in the battery compartment on the right hand side in the boot. Someone with far greater technical knowledge will be along shortly. Sorry the Maserati experience hasn't started too well. It should hopefully only be a glitch.

Hi Kenny, they are well know nuisance electrical issues, do try a battery reset for starters....be sure to leave drivers side window down and boot open throughout.

Hoping you will get her fixed soon and get on with enjoying your new Maserati!

Thanks guys, just spent the last 45 mins sitting in the car with my arm pressed against the gap at the top to stop the rain coming in whilst thunder rolled and lightning flashed around me. Gave me some time to appreciate the interior :) She now has some attractive plastic bags jammed in the gap. I've already tried the battery reset but probably did it wrong, just left it "off" for 30 mins and then sitched back on. Didn't seem to change anything. Windows still don't move, stil lthinks the drivers door is open and the doors don't lock/unlock when you press the fob. I'll try searching for the lock reset procedure.

I've had come to Maserati via Alfas so I guess I should be used to this kind of thing!

Check the fusebox? Looks like you'll be going back to where u bought it tomorrow, was it a private sale or a dealership?

Yup checked fuses, they seem all ok. However the carpet is a bit damp around there so I think there must be a blocked drain or something.

It was a private sale unfortunatly.... It was bought pretty much on the recomendation of an indy that seems to be held in pretty high regard. They had just serviced it and as it tuns out, after speaking to the chap I bought it from, "fixed" this (or a very similar) issue. So I'm hoping I might be able to sort something out with them.

It wouldn't be so bad if I could just get the windows to do anything.

Kenny,
Hello -- I had the same problem and symptoms you describe, about a year ago, water got in and destroyed the window/door ECU. I checked for a blocked drain, unfortunately my problem was due to a heater core leak. I was able to get Geoff at Shiltech to diagnose and fix the problem. Best of luck......

Sorry for the delay in replying, tried a few times but I always got either the Centos test page or a 403 error. I've now worked out I only get that when I try and access from work but for a week there I thought the site was down.

Anyway, problem solved. Matt was spot on the aircon drain was blocked causing water to get into the window/door ECU as it made its way to the passenger footwell. Seems its been doing that for a while and the change in ownership was the final straw. New ECU in at MP supercars and 500 confidence building miles later, I'm back to being a happy chappy. The memory of her disappering down the street on the back of a truck is fading fast.

Now just got to sell my Alfa....

Cheers,

Kenny

Glad to help out and it's nice to know my advice is not just hot air!

As Dem says we are aware of the site access problems and we do know that it is down to Apache running on the Linux server, bare with us. It is generally nay affecting 3G access from mobile devices.

Yup, seems pretty much everything I'd hoped for! The alfa is a 156 2.5 v6. Had her for 6 years and had a lot of fun and no real problems so a bit sad to see her go but can't aford to keep two demanding italians.

Cheers,

Kenny
