Heater controls and indicator stopped working 4200?

Took the Mrs out for dinner earlier when we got back in the car after a lovely pub lunch my heater controls were not working at all and my indicator stalk not working, would this be a fuse or something more sinister?

Puzzled, surely can't just be a coincidence?

Check the position if your key in the keyswitch.
It's a bizzare fault but it's occurred to me once or twice. When you turn the key to start the engine the return to the normal position doesn't quite happen and the contacts on the switch do not make and you lose indicators and a few other steering column items.

Agreed re forum. Driver seat electrics packed it in the other day - quick search suggested battery reset which seemed counter intuitive / unrelated and low and behold; sorted.

I did think it was knackered as we stopped and restarted the car but was still the same, must be getting sticky in old age.
