Hi, have managed to lose one of the above from my 04 CC. Possibly was when driving fast in the rain recently. I'm guessing I'll need to buy a new one and get it sprayed and fitted - maybe easy to DIY. Was wondering if anyone on here had experience of this and could offer suggestions for easiest way???

Also, in the highly unlikely event that someone has one of these already painted in Grigio Alfieri (driver's side!) I know a good home for it :anime:

cheers

Hi Adam,
To get at the mechanism is a bit of a chore as its well hidden under the lights behind the wheel arch liner . I've never actually changed one of these but from memory it is opperated via hydraulic pressure ie the water pressure lifts the jet, so if you get someone to work your washers with the headlights on when it pops up clamp it with mole grips or similar to prevent it popping back down while you fit the new cap. Someone may know a better method but thats what I would try, good luck a new one is about a tenner from eurospares, they might have a secondhand one in your colour if you are lucky.

Loz has done this job a few times, he has a stock of them in silver.

They tend to come off if you spray when driving fast. You can loop some fish line around them to that they stay fixed to your car if it happens again.

Thanks Keith, have my new one from Eurospares and need to paint it - off to Halfords with the paint code then....

Will try and remember not to use the spray thing when going fast! I struggle to see the benefit in having headlight spray jets - do they really do anything useful?
