The headlamps on my 4200 CC isn't self levelling and needs adjusting. Having removed the inner wheel arch I have found the adjustment for side to side but cannot see how to adjust the height using, I imagine, the electric adjuster in some way.

Any ideas/experiences please?

Hi Gary,

Self levelling should be HID in which case the likely culprit is the link arms seized on the front and rear wishbones, these are short plastic links with a metal rod and two rose joints. They can be freed on the vehicle with some spray oil and patience.

Leave the lights switched on and park in the garage or close/against a dark wall and switch on the ignition, do the lights dip and lift? if yes I'd revisit the link arms as suggested, if only one does the problem is the lift motor in the lamp unit, if neither do it is likely to be one of the two sensors is errored. If they lift but are pointing about 5 metres in front of you you can adjust the height with a deep 12mm 1/4" drive socket, up in the arch on the back left of the light assembly is a nearly hidden 12mm hex head, adjust away with the lights on, I used a bit of white cardboard with a line drawn across at a height slightly lower than the centre of the bulb to and placed a couple of metres in front of the car. Still took me many goes to get them set so I was happy.

Good luck...
