Hazard Lights stuck ON :(

Hello,

I have a 2002 CC. My hazard light switch has not worked since I collected the car a few months back. The car is still under warranty, so I will be taking a trip back to Autofficina very soon.

However, recently the hazard lights just randomly popped on. And since then, they now come on and off periodically (usually when I'm not in the car)! I've just got home from work, and the hazards are again on. I've started the car to check the battery is ok, which it is, and let the car warm up. Still no luck with switching the hazards off- the button is having no effect.

I've had to flick the battery cut-off switch for now.

Any ideas?

I will of course be returning to the garage, however it's a good hour from here and I'll have the hazards on the whole way! :(

Any suggestions most appreciated.

Mat.

Hi Mat, welcome to the forum,
hopefully someone with more knowledge of the 4200 will be along shortly,
I just wonder if it is the flasher unit or relay, but can't tell you where they are located, sorry...
as it is under warranty, best to take it back and get them to have a look, hope you get it sorted without too much bother,
Regards,
Enzo.

Sounds to me like water ingress possibly into the fuse area passenger footwell , worth lifting up the passenger side carpet ( you 'll see the poppers that hold the carpet down ) and check for damp , undo the two screws on the metal plate 180 degrees which opens the flap to expose the fuse area , dampness/wetness is generally caused by the aircon drain tube being blocked with debris and then overflowing into both footwells , look on the tech fixes section or do a search and we have a complete how to fix thread with picks , really easy to do , it maywell be the case that 2 fuses are cross circuiting

regards loz
