GTS - Reversible Mods Project

I’ve enjoyed my GTS for several years now without performing any sort of modification beyond corrosion protection. For the last while, I was very tempted to sell it and came close at one point, but remembered regretting the sale of my QP GT S so decided to keep the GTS.

I dont do that many miles at all, I go to the odd car event and a coffee every month, perhaps covering no more than 1,000 a year. When I get into the car, I really want it to be a sense of occassion and take it up to 11 within reasonable means. A lot of that excitement for me comes from the perception that I drive something special even if its not. For this reason, I know its marmite with some folk but I plan on making the following mods which I know will give me the extra sense of Occassion if not pass a few hours on the odd weekend. Here’s the plan but like I said all reversible to oem.

Short Term:

  1. Fit Larini Sports Center (H Pipe)
  2. Replace alloy centre caps
  3. Replace side emblems
  4. Apply custom Maserati sunstrip
  5. Apply limited number of GT4-like decals eg Pirelli, Bilstein, Brembo.
  6. Apply new GT2-like tricolore strips to side skirts
Medium Term:

  1. Add additional carbon trim on interior panels not carbon from factory (ensuring weave is consistent)
  2. Perhaps add a FD or TMC Motorsport tuning module (undecided on this)
  3. Change neptune alloy color to Porsche arum gold or similar bronze to 458 speciale rim color.
Long Term:
  1. Fit custom carbon/alcantara wheel with tricolore racing stripes.
  2. Continue googling for oem GT carbon diffuser and side skirts. Talk about rare!!!

Can you not find excuses to enjoy it a bit more than only 1000 miles a year? Maybe use it drive to work just occasionally? Not too much, as it’s nice to keep it feeling and looking special, but a few more miles wouldn’t harm.

Probably less than 1k miles to be honest. I try to take out whenever I can but living in Ireland its miserable weather 85% of the year!

Here's my list for my QPV S. A bit more 'comfort-oriented' than 'boy-racer' but some 'occasion' stuff.
  • GT S grille – done
  • Red callipers – done
  • Android Auto – done
  • Winter wheels – done
  • Water alarm in boot – done
  • Ceramic coating – done
  • Dash cam (F&R) – done
  • Install new wood & cream steering wheel – done
  • Put a drain hole in boot liner – done

  • Leather refurb
  • Power supply for phone high on dash
  • Cooling seats (can this be retrofitted?)
  • Massaging seats (can this be retrofitted?)
  • Better key fobs (lacquer? paint? Covers?)
  • Louder indicator clickers
  • Branded puddle lights
  • Custom floor mats
  • Amplifier for the Aux input
  • Better radio / DAB radio
  • TV
  • Nicer rear camera
  • Front camera
  • Fridge or glovebox/armrest cooler
  • Wing mirror fold on lock
  • Laser disruptor?
  • Cute (subtle) number plate?
  • Different dampers?
  • Complete respray?
  • Make siren a bit quieter on lock and unlock
  • High beam switch for left foot
  • Delete skyhook
[edited to add a couple I forgot]

Do you really want a TV Mark? My eyes are mostly on whatever is happening beyond the windscreen. But I'm ok with pretty well all the rest.
Now that you've written it, I rather fancy "wing mirror fold on lock" and "high beam switch for left foot" for mine.
I've got forced air cooling for backseats, but would certainly like it in the front too.
Good luck with the project.

I used to have a TV in my old Audi A8. It switched off the picture (but not the sound) at anything over 5mph. It was quite nice in my very slow commute into Oxford many years ago - I could 'watch' morning TV while crawling along. Now I would just want it very occasionally when parked up somewhere; but probably pointless.

I'm not sure I will ever do anything beyond these few, below, as the rest seem like a lot of trouble, TBH:
  • Leather refurb
  • Custom floor mats
  • DAB radio (via FM, apparently)
Maybe I can look at a plug-in in-line amplifier for the Aux input, depending on how Matt's Android Auto was implemented. I have a Topping NX1s just lying about.

I have TV DVD in my Jag along with numerous other gizmos, only ever used it when stuck in a traffic jam for hours.
But if you have CarPlay, you effectively have TV

Thought about it but very expensive for what it is plus as well organised as they are, they’re always clashing with my work dates etc.
It’s an absolute bargain for what it is. £2000 for 2 people all hotels for 3 nights and 3 meals a day. Awesome event and great people.

If you're not already aware, Des (Dman666) from Banshee motorsport does most of the Carbon bits you're after if you didn't want to go OEM or just wrap or hydro-dip them.

Re- the rear spoiler, diffuser and side skirts - you can order them on eurospares or Scuderia but the prices are a bit much to swallow. Also, for the diffuser, you'd have to drill your bumper, as they are just additional fins added to the Standars bumper. See here

I went with Des's carbon rear spoiler and their Maxton designs rear diffuser, as both can be stuck on and removed again if need be. I did drill the diffuser so it would accept the oem lower bumper bolts.

I know that buddy. I actually have an oem carbon spoiler so just side skirts and diffuser needed.

On the rear diffuser from Banshee, I could only see gloss and matt finish variants, no carbon? Was your diffuser plug and play with some sticky tape and re utilising the four odd oem bolts/holes?

Ah OK, cool.
I know he does a full carbon diffuser too, but obviously much pricier.
You're right RE the Maxton diffuser, I've got the gloss black. I intended to wrap or hydrodip it, but to be fair, thought it looked OK as it was, and wasn't sure if I was gonna keep it on. I also got the rear splitters, but decided I didn't need them as well.

I used 3M around it and supported it overnight, but also decided to drill it underneath so it would use some of the OEM bumper bolts. It hasn't budged yet after a few thousand miles. A bit of tigerseal would of course be a bit more secure, but again, would make it more difficult to remove should you change your mind.

I actually really like it. With the spoiler, spacers and slightly lower springs of the handling pack, it makes the rear look much more aggressive, and less mondeo, which is what I wanted.
