And yes, that it why it is maybe louder than you'd like.
While your under there, also check that both exhaust valves are opening and closing as they should when you press the sport button.
And give them a good squirt of lube regardless.

That explains a lot!!!

Valves nice an free... and will stay closed more of the time now... dogs, sheep and horse have all fled the area on start up!

Sadly no 'quiet start' mode to keep the sleepy hollow placated.

Let them get used to it by driving it more often!

With a cold engine, start up with a OE centre pipe is still loud. I don't think the X pipe is massively loud when the car is being driven conservatively, it's only noisy when pushing on.

Spot on. I concur. The cold start is a matter of seconds too.

How much quieter will it be if reversed and does anyone have the standard parts?
I'm gonna go against the grain here, and say on a pre-facelift MC-shift I reckon a good 20-25% quieter with the OEM muffled x-pipe in.

I have never met you in person, but I get the impression from your forum character, and the fact you're asking, that you would definitely prefer the OEM volume and sound. It is noticeably quieter and a much classier tone.

(I still love my x-pipe though lol)

You'll definitely be able to pick up a used oem center section to put in.

Always hard to tell on videos, but below was my pre-facelift MC shift with and without xpipe.
