given that the servicing is every 2 years on these, I am just wondering if there are any items that should be checked by ourselves at least annually. for example, are they prone to needing a top up on engine oil given the big V8, etc? bearing in mind I am not mechanically minded at all! what do you guys look out for in general? I don't tend to do that many miles, perhaps 1-2k per annum only, but some of those will be hard driving

Regular oil, water, tyres pressure checks are essential regular checks and yes, they can use oil so keep a good eye on this.
Also, your local main dealer should do a complimentary annual winter health check so its worth taking them up on that.

I was advised to get an oil and filter change every year just to keep it in tip top condition. I didn't get the MD to do it though.

It's NEVER what Halfords says! Wouldn't trust them with anything really. Speak to the most highly reccomended local specialist they'll be happy to help! I've found they seem to be friendly enough!

Hmm, perhaps, but you don't get that same feeling as you would from having ownership...I agree though, I should plan to use it more!

Wear & tear I would say, the London speed bumps are not Maserati's fault
