GTS display glitching..

Hi folks, wondering if anyone has ideas about what's going on on with my GTS navigation screen.

So I turn on the ignition and the screen boots up but the image is glitchy and even rolls up like an old school CRT TV. After a few seconds rights itself without any input from me.

Started happening in the last few weeks I'd say but doesn't do it often or predictably.. So quite annoying but any thoughts welcome!

Some folks on FB saying it could be the HDD on its way out. But it looks like a bad signal / sync until it resolves itself.

Talking of HDD, as I've got the Android Auto option from SportsItalia, I really have no use for it. Can it be disabled or removed to eliminate it causing issues in the future?

Saw this on FB.

Pretty sure it's *not* the HDD. Feels more like a bad video chip / display driver (much as you surmised)

This will probably need a new NIT or at least a pretty good technical type person to replace the driver. Unless @conaero or Phil Carrol have a different view.

As to the the Android piece, if it can be added, it can be removed..... From my understanding of how it works, though, the odds of it actually causing an issue are basically zero so......

Thanks for the thought, yes doesn't make sense re HDD.
Regarding the android auto, I agree with you I don't think it's caused the problem but I was wondering that even if the nit or hdd dies, would the carplay still work..

I *think* so. From memory the SI Carplay is a touchscreen overlay and an splice into the video feed (which now makes me wonder if the splice could be an issue in this case). I don't think it uses any of the NIT components, other than the screen. @conaero will be able to confirm or deny, obvs.....

You are right, the video feed goes from the NIT to the CarPlay and then back to the screen.

Does it do the same in both Oem display mode or Android auto mode?
If so, it won't be the NIT, and more likely a connection issue via the android auto setup.

It's intermittent and not happened since Saturday but if it happens again I'll quickly try to select the carplay display and see if the glitching is still there. So far it's cleared up within a few seconds and the default is the NIT display on ignition..
