I mailed the guy fairly recently purely out of curiosity as it's nowhere near the spec/colours etc. I want. He told me it's done 90k. £23k is still way too expensive with those miles...as has already been said it would be virtually unsaleable afterwards. If I wanted it I'd bid him no more than £17-£18k

sounded perfect for me as i only wanted to put £5k on top and get a gs because i was still going to spend £3k doing the 3200 conversion, but at 90k its not worth buying at anything more than 17k, so with the other ones on pistonheads with 30k going for £26k asking price they make the better deal

One has to fight fire with fire and if it is only worth 17/18k then price fixing it is............When I was much younger I used to be in the oil business............I worked in my local garage checking customer's oil :tomato8:

The way to look at this GS, is to put another 30 K miles on it , and then go for an engine swap , its easy to buy a low mileage 4200 lump for £2.5k sub 25k miles , and then buy a new speedo and have it fitted and validated by an Indie , that will avoid a kick in the goolies and make it more easily saleable wshen its time to move on

I have verified with Maserati the service history and MOTs are all avaiable looks good checked this with the DVLA website and HPi clear. The mileage is 70k and not 90k as posted previously. This has full leather unlike the techincal stuff.

Hi GSMCV...welcome to the forum........have you seen/driven the car, have an interest in it?

Its been on sale for quite a while, can you confirm how long?

The colour combination is really good, it should sell on that along and its obviously the 70k miles that is putting people off. Now say you have it for 2-3 year and put another 30k on it, it will be worthless at 100k, I think that is the case in point.

...or you could do as that doggy begger Loz says and basically clock it, hum, I think not!

Would never go that far Matt , as you well know all the cars i have are always bought with low mileage , what i would do is buy run it for a couple of years and then do an engine swap for a verified low mileage one and have it swapped by a reputable indie/dealer that way iys quantified , should only cost in the region of £3500 max including fitting , would certainly offset any bad rep over the mileage , trying to sell one of these with 100K means atleast 40% off book price , so it makes financial sense to swap the lumpm and get yourself back to book price

Yep will go to see this this. There are other gransports ive seen that are also getting very close to that kind of mileage and i plan to drive this on the odd day as i have another car. 3200s are still going strong but a gransport you get a better looking car IMHO and a normally aspirated engine better for reliability. Im thinking other cars will catch up on the Mileage too just like the 3200's, As its the last of the 4200's issues should have been ironed out. I love the 3200 but after driving one was not too impressed, the 4200 does not have a unique design IMHO thats why im considering this at 21k?

For what its worth, when I enquired about the car, the chap was friendly enough and welcomed any inspection. The history was a bit disjointed and not all paperwork was present if I recall correctly. The price is creeping up - now at £22k on Pistonheads.com - get it quick before it appreciates further!!!
