Hi,

Does anyone know how to remove the Gearbox Flex pad mount on the GS?

Cannot seem to get it to budge?

Thanks

Support the gearbox with a jack, unbolt the 8 bolts on the crossmember that houses the mount, unbolt the mount and smack the crossmember out. Then undo the mount top bolt and voila

Thanks, did all of these stages but must have missed the mount top bolt, I presumed it twisted on!

Appreciate it!

Thanks, probably why I didn't see it.

I'm taking the F1 system off to refresh it so should have better access.

In that case you don’t need to remove the mount, it stays on the gearbox, you just remove the crossmember.

Before you remove anything make sure the bonnet is open, put a block of wood under the leading edge otherwise when the engine flops it will crease the bonnet.

Good shout with the bonnet, the engine is very tight to it.

Thanks the mount I am changing as it is on the gearbox/diff at the rear of the car.

Will removing the mount here cause the engine to pivot at the front? If so thanks for the heads up as I would have done this bonnet shut!

Ok so I have loosened the F1 pipes bracket from the gearbox housing, this has given me about 2 inches more clearance and I can now feel the mount nut.

Problem I have is I still don't have enough room to fit the socket handle, and my stubby spanner hits the flange edges not allowing movement.

Is there a special spanner or socket piece that would help with this, I don't want to remove the entire F1 system to do this.

As always appreciate the advice!

Cheers

No, with the torque tube still connected the box will drop an inch, disconnect the crossmember with the gearbox on a jack. Then you can spin the mount off, Simple’s.

Thanks, what would you suggest to twist it off, used an oil filter wrench on the mount and it snapped as I cannot loosen the upper bolt.

Seems to be super tight or seized!

we have some massive grips, heat is always the best release but if your not keeping it I would shock it in the undo direction with a hammer and chisel

Just as an update you can free the housing nut for the mount easily with a straight through socket piece.

18mm with 19mm for the spanner to attach and provides plenty of clearance.

If anyone is using the QP engine mount as it's half the price of the GS one, it has already been documented that you need to change the top mounting plate and switch them over. You will also need to find 2 X nuts for the flange spacer bolts, the GS mount has threads built into it and the QP mount doesn't.

Thanks
