I believe Safrane has done today on behalf of another forum member, send him a PM.

Aye, he did indeed very kindly have a look at it for me today.

Sounds like a nice car, he gave me a detailed report on it. I'll probably go and see it at the weekend.

I can share his report with you, if you would like to see it?

OK, Given plenty of time for Mr C to make his arrangements; Her are my observations only and I am not a mechanic.

Remember the age of the car (Almost 10 years now)

Body
Front bumper has been repainted - has some stone chips as has the front wings and bonnet - About £1000 if you wanted it perfect
OSF Wheel the red Trident is split and missing a prong - £25
Small paint chip under OSR light cluster - DIY fix
minor scratches to boot lid - Professional polish will remove them - £100 for the whole car
Flanks appear blemish free
Rear bumper has had some paint on the NS and looks like it needs pulling out by 3mm to sit correctly against the body

Wheels

Wheels are all refurbished and clean, OSF has had a chunck taken out of the rim but has been refinished well
Tyres all good - fronts Yoh'ks on the front - new
Mich on the rear about 5mm
Brakes are good with aprox 1mm wear at the front and the rears are un work
Parking break and hill assist work correctly

Oily bits

Clutch at 14% at last check about 700 miles ago
services at main dealer every year except 2008-2011 where it appears to have done just 9k miles - Mix of DL and HR Owen.
Last services March 2014

Trim

has factory Becker unit and Auditorium system but no CD Changer?
Leather is good and the bright tech inserts look much darker than the photos where they look silver? It more of a charcoal colour and looks good.

Switch gear is quite good with just the NSF window switch showing a tiny bit of tarnish - £ 25
Outside vents chrome peeling but this is a standard problem
Front wipers anti flap in place

Factory floor matts in place

Drive

Car drives well with no clunks or bangs - suspension appears not to be showing any of the tale tale symptoms of control arm wear
Clutch engages well in both modes and from cold
Gear box and sports setting work as they should
exhaust seems OK with just a little heat-shield rattle when at idle when cold - could be the manifolds skins

Engine had a slight vibration when coming off the revs when stood, this may be tired plugs or a coil pack
No warning lights - they all work when ignition is on MAR
Battery is old and would suggest replacing - vent pipe and + terminal protective plate not attached...it will be in there somewhere as they both drop off

Garage states it still has warranty till March 15 and was bought by the last owner for just shy of £27k in March 2014.

Yep, seen that one, £10k, they are having a laugh.

Because they are so rare, the dealers are forcing the market up. They just don't sell at that money.

Veloces always over price, I really like this Alfa 166 (equally as rare) but not at that price. They have had it for sale for months, might pop over and make them a silly offer in the next week or two

Love the 166. Theya re getting rare in great condition Andy you are right and they are one that haven't really gone up in price so think you are right to make a cheeky offer. Lovely car that.

Had a 2.5 V6. Very impressive, but never really me. The 3l might be interesting, but seems stupidly expensive.

We have had 2 166s both 3.0l V6 and they are great cars. Super comfy fast mile crunchers. If I could find a good 3.2 Ti I would have it but if not a decent 3.0 would be fine if it was the right spec. Veloces 3.0 is nearly there late low mileage and reasonable spec but Silver and price put me off but lets see what the new year brings
