Hi all,

Have you ever had this poor experience before with a dealer....

I had an issue with the EPB not releasing on my Granturismo S. The alarm on the display recommended taking to car to a dealer. I ended up not needing to as it was only a battery low voltage issue. Easily sorted.

But.....Whist charging the battery I called my nearest dealer, Graypaul Edinburgh, to see if they could pick up the car and take it to the workshop for investigation. Their reply was .... errrr .....strange and annoying.
They said they had both a covered transporter, and a recovery vehicle. But were not prepared to use either to collect my car. Reason was liability and what they were 'covered for'. Even though I had manually freed the EPB prior to charging the battery, they said they would not put the car on the covered transport vehicle as it was only for mechanically sound vehicles. So as I had an EPB issue, my car was not mechanically sound. And they would not use the recovery vehicle as they were not happy to use that in case something happened to the car whilst offloading the car from the vehicle and they wouldn't be covered for that liability wise. I said they were taking nonsense, in that as a recovery vehicle, surely it is meant to recover vehicles that had a problem. So they surely must be covered!

The guy on the phone said he'd go and speak to someone about it and call me back. I'm still waiting for the call!

So anyway, like I said, I don't need the car picked up now as I have it all sorted, but has anyone else come across this kind of non-service from a main dealer? Seems a tad shoddy to me.

I'll be travelling a little further to my second nearest dealer next time I have a need to visit a main dealer!

Bought my car from them and they have always serviced it including using the covered transport lorry (they have two IIRC). The car has to be driven onto this as there is no winch. Never had a problem with them other than my car being in for quite a while when being serviced but that is due to parts delay coming from Italy and not them.

It does sound very strange. I always had very good service from them. Maybe their transporters are only used for collecting cars for a service. If a car has broken down then normally a recovery company would transport the car, not the dealer.

I would agree with that. With the Maserati warranty it gets recovered and you get a loan car. With the RAC and AA you need to 'break down' more than half a mile from your house and they will then recover you anywhere in the UK.

Yep, all good with that. But my issue with them was that (a) the car was at home, so no cover from RAC, and (b) they have a "recovery" vehicle....isn't that meant to recover poorly vehicles? I already told them that I had freed the EPB. There was no other issues with the car.

Anyway, all done now and sorted. Having said all this and moaned about GP Edinburgh, I have to say that I have been there before on several occasions for various things, and in the main received good service. Well...Except for them ordering and fitting an incorrect part despite me emailing pictures to them of the part I needed to be ordered :frusty6:. But apart from that.....good!
