Just one more question guys, do any of you bother with the Maserati specific compounds as supplied new with the P Zeros / Contis or just go with the correct sizes and then choose your preferred brand / tread pattern?

Thanks all

If it's inside warranty, MGT tread, if not, why pay the extra. I seriously doubt maserati puts any real effort in to developing the tyres given their budget constraints. I've no scientific basis for that, that's just what I do !

I always go for the brand specific tyre since a local tyre company put Mercedes compound tyres on a non-Mercedes car. For a few weeks I felt something wasn't up with the ride and my dealer pointed out the error. Maybe it's all snake oil but I tend to stick to what they recommend now.

My understanding is that there is no Maserati specific compound for the 20" Contis on the GranTurismo but there certainly is with the P Zeros. I am on the former now - in summer - and love them. For the first few years I always used the 'snake oil' P Zero and found they were great if it was warm but wear rates were not good.

Thanks all - I'm pretty sure I will go for Contis, the new 6 is getting good reviews with improvement side wall stability and wet handling and the 5 was already well thought of so it looks like a no brainer. I'll try to get a few more miles out these P Zeros first and then will be taking the leap
Cheers

Mine are the 3 as you could not get the 5P in front/rear a year ago. The fronts are both 95XL but the on the back the 3 is 104XL and the 5P is 100 no XL so the 3 might be a bit firmer. Not sure you can get the 6 in both sizes.

Yes, there are a few options there with the Contis which I'll need to investigate properly before I go ahead. I'm hoping to get a few more miles out of them but won't be long now
Cheers
