GranTurismo dash centre speaker grill rattle..

I have not had my car long and been sorting essential things so far.. but now am getting to more minor annoyances.

There is a rattle which occasionally manifests and seems like it is coming from the front dash speaker or cover.. (photo attached). When the rattle appears (which is not all the time), usually a bit of a whack with my hand puts it to rest for a while!

So there's something here which is a bit loose or needs some felt or repositioning - I am wondering does the speaker grill just prise out or it is glued into the dash? I don't want to start levering it and risk damage! I believe this is the Bose system (all the other speakers have the Bose logo and there's a woofer type thing in the back shelf)..

Any advice welcome!

That reminds me I need to sort an intermittent rattle on the trim that goes between dash pad and windscreen.

Looks like it clips out:

No fixings show on the parts diagrams either

Awesome - thanks for that, yes agreed looks like it clips out. Will give it a go later and see if I can work out what's causing the rattle (which could be the grill itself of course).

It clips out but from memory you cannot do anything else. I think the speaker is mounted from below.

Sensor might be rattling in it or the cable touching the speaker or dash, but I am sure thats all you can get to. Well on the QP anyway.

So quick update, I prised the grill off and indeed there is not much to go at. However there is the daylight sensor with the cable that feeds in to the dash through a small opening - I felt that was where the rattle was coming from..

So I stuffed a small cloth rag down there hoping to secure the wires... had a test drive and it seemed to be worse!!

Took it apart again and removed the rag. This time before putting the grill back, I tried to pull as much of the sensor cable from inside hole in the dash so it was basically curled up just under the grill.

That seems to have fixed the rattle - although it was intermittent so let's see!

Sam, we made an interim fix on that in Le Mans last year. Shall I book you in for the same again this year? I'll bring the padded double-sided sticky tape. ;-)
