What I can tell you is don't service it in Australia. I just got a couple of quotes here for parts only and it was 58% CHEAPER for me to fly the OEM parts in direct myself.. You think England gets ripped off!! try rip off Australians... the monkeys here should be shot at dawn..???

Another anti-car...facist attitude type government......pity the ordinary petrolhead gets taken advantage of in lots of countries.

Hello all

Its almost been a year of very very fun ownership of my GS but i'm having to do a MOT and the 43k service sometime this month.

Only blip on an otherwise great year was an issue a of couple weeks ago. My battery ran totally flat just before a big drive to Cornwall for the bank holiday and I got a company called Car Care Kensington come out and help replace the battery. They seem fairly handy. Does anyone know if would be any good for a MOT and 43k service? They advertise to say they handle maseratis on their website http://www.carcare1.co.uk/

Alternatively , which indie would you use in central london? The ones quoted in this thread all seem fairly far out (by far, i mean outside zone 1. Sorry. i'm spoilt that way...) Is the price differential that great?

Any advice appreciated.

Ultraman, might be worthwhile seeing if HR Owen will price match or use the supercarhub to get quotes in, Andrea off her runs it, join it and see what happens.

Do Carcare have an SD diagnostic kit?

No probs, batteries do give up due to high demands, usually people put a slightly heavier duty version in to bolster battery life expectancy.

I've spent today getting quotes for an 3200 GT annual service. The 3 quotes are £299, £450 and £650. There doesn't seem a lot different between what is offered, the highest not surprisingly is from a main dealer. Is there a Maserati list of what should be included (couldn't find it on the forum) and does an independent specialist stamp for a annual service make much difference compared to a main dealer?

The parts for a service cost more than £299. £450+ is more likely. A good specialist is as good, if not better than a main dealer. The oil, filters and spark plugs are around £200!

Thanks Dicky, the plugs were changed last year, I thought they were a 2 yearly/12k change that would have put the price up on the £299 to nearly £450 so maybe that. Good to hear that the I don't have to pay up just to get a main dealer stamp.

Hi all, anyone doing the annual service themselves on a 4200/GS?

Or maybe the stamp in the service book is worth the extra money!?

Should not be too hard and require no special tools. Formula Dynamics (US) sells a 4200/GS service kit which seem to fulfill the annual service apart from the AC unit.

One or two do their own....depends on what condition its in, how long you intend to keep it and how many miles you aim on doing, but keeping all invoices of parts bought etc should help
