GPS tracker with remote engine shutdown

I think that many owners are of the opinion that if their P&J was nicked and ragged then they would not want it back ! This is probably one of the reasons why some owners dont fit trackers.

I have often wondered if a tracker exisits that can remotely shut down the engine in the event of theft. I assume the owner could send a sms to a fitted tracker which would remotely shutdown the engine.

Such as this

Has anyone seen such a product in action?

I suppose it would have to be approved for UK use (which might open a can of worms safety wise, lack of power steering+brakes whilst power is cut)

Bet it would malfunction on a cold morining when you are driving to work.

I can understand Trackers on cars with a current value of over, say, £50k but they are a real pain to use. With Navtrak you have to keep the card and the car keys separate even though the dealers supply the card in a nice branded leather pouch to go on your key ring. I keep USB sticks in the pouch (got to use it for something) and the card and key are never together apart from the fact that both need to be in the car for it to work without Navtrak calling. They should use retina scanning instead..........................

....before you know it they'd be cloning eye balls........next idea??!!

Actually one of the best simplest and easier IDing methods is a breath sample........unique to each individual

...and a breath tester in one go.

BTW do I need these for France? Read somewhere that they had not passed the legislation to enforce fines for not carrying breath testers.

There are plenty of systems that will shut down at first stop. So if the car is driven away from the RFID tag, the first time the driver stops (for a light, for example) the engine dies then will not restart.
Yes, might well fail on a cold morning, although there's no real reason to think it would, other than the law of sod.

Not sure but I took some, cheaper than the fine and they like picking on GB plated sports cars, though they never stopped me. Only in Italy to say nice car.
