Getrag 6 speed transmission parts

I'm in the desperate need of second gear wheel and synchronizer for my 2.8 Ghibli GT 6 speed manual Getrag transmission. Where should I look for the parts?
Anyone knows if my transmission (or its internals) is compatible with some transmissions used in BMW. If so in which specific BMW model. So far we've disassembled 3 Getrag/BMW transmissions which (according to infos flying in the net) should have been ok, but they weren't. The synchronizers were just right but the wheels were different.
Anyone experienced similar problems with 2nd gear synchronizers?
Any suggestions?

I wish I could help. I read something recently saying that whilst the gearbox is similar to the BMW M5 and M3, it is different and not only in terms of the bell housing. The gear ratios and internals are different.
Getrag gearbox specialist?
Second hand gearbox? I know that David Askew has got a couple of cars in recently and one is a manual. Or kjbparts?
If you have any success, particularly with parts, please do post.

Have you tried a 3200 Getrag gearbox to see if it will fit..except for a couple of bearings and oil seals nothing else is available

hmm,

I'm sorry to hear about this Swistak

particularly as I have that gearbox myself...

however, I have always taken some comfort from reading about this place-

http://www.mackie-transmission.com

for which no job seems unachievable. They are even fabricating parts, which can't be laughed at.

might be worth a phonecall...

I just bought a transmission with broken bell housing from KJB Parts. I hope the parts I need out of it will be in good condition. Many thanks for the hints where to look for.

In a few days I hope to have my baby back with a healthy transmission (fingers crossed). However I'm a little dissapointed by the quality of service provded by KJB Parts. My order was completed only in part (I/ve been delivered the transmisiion but not the other little things I ordered). I was e-mailing Koen at KJB Parts about that but there was no response. Do any of you had similar experience with KJB?

Yes, he is cheap but not particularly reliable, or fast. Having said that, I've had similar experience with a well known UK parts person too.
You just have to be patient - or in front of them :)
Choices for old maser parts are limited!

I think the best is to call him, he probably just did not see your e-mail, I am not sure but I think he is doing all the work himself... so very busy guy.

Swistak - totally hear you re. KJB parts. I've called and left voicemails twice (with contact details). Also tried emailing several times a couple of weeks ago, yet to receive a reply or response. Even a quick "I'm stacked but will get back to you" would be really appreciated, but nothing :(

Guys.. there's no one out there that I know that can fix a Getrag 6 speed gearbox's

I was at Gaydon yesterday at the new JLR facilities for the annual 2016 slot car fest..

There's a 2001 Getrag 5 speed rock crusher with a cut out display.. in there very impressive BL archive

Hey Swistak-

Did you manage to use the parts from the donor gearbox then? Did it match??

Can you list any specific details of it on here to assist others in the future..?
