Gearbox won't find neutral

Hi Guys,
Second time this has happened recently. Open the door and hear the normal pump commencing noise.
Try to start the car, but the gearbox indicator won't budge from 1st, so no response from the starter.
Tried using the paddles, 1st/reverse lever, and then battery reset. No go.
Had a mate come round with his diagnostics, which didn't show a fault except O2 sensor ( recently replaced one pair, other still to do ).
He cleared all codes and we were good. Until today, 2 days before Auto Italia, big event for the year.
Had clutch upgrade 25,000 km's ago. invoice doesn't mention clutch sensor but assume he would do it.

Any thoughts?

Hmmm. Tricky one. Do the brake light come on when you press the pedal. It could be the brake switch.

I had this. It was the wire from the starter button to the ecu in the boot. Ran a parallel wire and all cured. I could find neutral pulling both paddles however.

I also replaced the brake pedal sensor, but it was a red herring.

Good news. Spoke to my guy who installed the clutch.
He says it is a Maserati safety protocol that if you don't have brakes then you can't start.
He asked me to check the brake light function, but more importantly press down with strong force on the pedal.
Bingo it worked. Whew.
