Gearbox noise & confused clutch?

Greetings all
Hope someone can advise.

I have notice two issues with my Gransports gearbox/clutch. The clutch and thrust bearing was replaced prior to purchase less than a year ago and I've done only a couple of thousand km's since then.

The first issue is that occasionally when going downhill low speed in 1st gear, the gearbox seems to get confused with the clutch repeatedly engaging and disengaging like it's not sure what it should be doing. It only seems to occur when going down hill. Otherwise, gear changes seem fine when driving, except the odd time when needing to shift from 2 to 1 when crawling, which always seems sluggish. There is no change in rpm when shifting into 1 or R.

The other issue is a rattly noise from the gearbox that develops when the car is in neutral after about 5 minutes. It goes away as soon as a gear is selected and doesn't recur when going back into N although it might after 5 minutes.

One thing I haven't been able to do is get a PIS adjustment since the clutch was replaced due lack of any indies here in Brisbane having an SD2 tester.

Would a PIS adjustment fix these issues?
Or is it something more serious?

Cheers.

Second issue is the lay shaft bearing rattling. ..no need for concern but it does sound dreadful for a high end car.

Could be simple fix or a replacement gearbox!

Check gearbox oil, level and was it changed last time they worked at it?

Theres a brain which governs changes which develops glitches but you need an SD test.

Thank you Peter.
At least it doesn't rattle straight away, I don't usually have it idling long enough to make the noise. Actually why doesn't it start to rattle right away when in N?
Also, is this bearing routinely replaced with clutch replacement?

Is the gearbox oil changed routinely when clutch is replaced. Checking the service report when the clutch was replaced, it actually makes no mention about changing the gearbox oil, so maybe it hasn't been checked or replaced.
And according to the service book, the last time the car was serviced before this was 2010. Actually, it makes me wonder when the coolant was last replaced because the report makes no mention about this either... It might be years overdue.
I did have the diff oil changed a while back because it was juddering so much when turning corners and the mechanic was amazed at how filthy the diff oil was. So I think I'll get the gearbox oil and coolant changed ASAP. This is what was done at the pre-purchase service. Is there anything else I should get done now?

There is a schedule of things needed done/changed /replaced on here, don't think they normally change gearbox oil when clutch is chenged but it does need done same as differential. Fluids are life blood on high performance cars............need changed at correct intervals otherwise problems arise.

Whats the SAE of the Selenia racing oil...thoguht that was only for 3200s?

Plugs give bother too......why not replaced?

Yeah, I wasn't sure about the Selenia racing oil either, which is 10W/60. I had it replaced with full synthetic 5W/40 in March after I noticed development of tapping valve noise on start sometimes. I replaced the plugs myself a couple of months after purchase last year, although the plugs that came out looked pretty pristine.

2 yearly interval for gearbox..........easy to ruin the longevity of a box if not done for 4/5/6/7 years!...all for 100 dollars!

Plugs prone to breaking down/leakage...only revealed on SD test

regards maintenance - i would have the gearbox oil changed every 2 years with a replacement oil filter if needed or on 2nd change.

i would get the car to a dealer who can run the car on rolling road to see where the noise maybe coming from

good luck and hope you get this sorted
