There are quite a lot of details apart from the grill, that as you say give a simpler elegance.
For example on the later car, the outer dipped lights have a plastic chrome ring which serves no purpose I can see, the original design does not.

It's like most cars, they cosmetically change the look so it looks newer, but then strays from the original designers intention.

Yeah the original smaller grille is less bluff to look at head on more sleek......:)

Point made in the above post, just noticed you're from Holmfirth, my dad used to own the Vic, I hail from about 5 miles up the road :)

Do love living in Holmfirth (actually now Holmbridge for the last 5 years, driving out to Holme Moss) but I have never seen another Maserati apart from mine!

The Gransport tweaks which were done was to set the Gransport apart, they then did to all the 4200's which I agree detracts from Guigaro's initial simple, yet beautiful vision. The concept was born in 1996 I believe, amazing design, as to many, it still doesn't look dated 16 years on.

Used to cycle up there regularly, think it'd kill me nowadays. Sometimes take the scenic route back to visit family and go that route so you may see one flashing by one day.

Respect. I've got some friends living in Thurstonland so I've the hills in those parts!

Rode over that way on Saturday at the end of a grueling bike ride from Yeovil to Huddersfield (260 miles) all in aid of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance (the one that saved Hammend when he had his crash on top gear) if any one like to donate visit www.justgiving.com/Dhwright

Cheers

I've now fitted a new clutch to the argento luna car, so as well as it looking superb, it also drives like a new car.
