I agree... that's why I'd rather pay less for a 430, trick it out, do what I want in it, then sell it for waaaaay less than I would have lost before.

Take my DB9 - paid £50k, spending about £8-9k on it - lightened by 50kg, bumping power to over 500bhp, stiffening the shocks, making some better noises and smartening the looks. Sell it in 3yrs for £40k?

Had I bought a DBS for £120k, spend nothing on it but do 5k/yr in it. Sell it 3yrs for £70k? Big difference!

Agreed Marcos, but in the real world you are still leaking a decent 4200 away over those 3 years. I'm sure it will be worth it but it's still a fair chunk of change for the rest of us mere mortals!

Thanks for all the above discussion, it's just what I was after.
Now I've learnt a bit more about the 16M and what it is, I think I'll investigate Marcos's suggestion of tweaking a normal F430 or perhaps even finding a ready tweaked one.

Especially if as pointed out there is very little difference noticed on road (it would be tracked once in a blue moon, if ever).

More research required....

It's a fair chunk of change to everyone Benny! I owned a 4200 and the DB7 at the same time, thought I may as well have two lower priced but fantastic cars depreciating slowly then one big one depreciating fast. But it ended up being the same, they still depreciated heavily and with running costs x 2... I am better off with one mahoosive GT than 2!

The chunk of change you mention could indeed be put towards an £18k 4200... but in 3yrs that'll be worth £12k? It's a no-win situation, if you want a good car, you need to take the pain.

Unless you get an SZ and it appreciates ;)
