F1 Gear hydraulic pump, Gransport

(Sorry for duplicate thread, I’m new)

Hi all, I am looking for recommandations on replacing or not my F1 gear pump.

Maserati Dealer says after connecting the Maserati computer that pressure values are low, wants to change pump for 3000€.

Gears sometimes won’t change when car is in normal temperature, it stays in neutral. I see the red gear box indicator solid. I switch the car off and back again and it works, red light gone.

I am going to change the hydraulic fluid although dealer says it will make the pump suffer during purge. True or not ?

Can the special Swiss replacement relay help ?

Thx for advises.

I am just wondering... Did the mechanic mean the "pump" or the "motor" that drives the pump? If not, as long as you are in there you should change both as a set.

Yes of course you can, however the pump head doesn't wear, it's the motor that wears out.
If you can change the motor in situ, you don't need to bleed the system that requires the sd2 hooking up, therefore main dealer or specialist required.

Seems you are in Euro zone. Might be worth the trip to the UK to a good independent specialist to diagnose and fix the issue. Main dealer will be very expensive - in UK or Euro Zone. Sounds like you need a specialist rather than "trying this" followed by "trying that"

The pump is quite an easy and cheap DIY using that guide, there is no room to just replace the motor with the pump still in place.
I would change the pump and relay first (diy using the Alfa pump) then go from there.
It does sound like the dealer has diagnosed the pump as faulty from the first post, so long as the dealer understands the system.

I actually replaced the motor without disconnecting the pump.

Oh right, couldn’t see how it was possible when I did mine, it was all covered in rust so thought to do the whole lot
