F1 Fluid Reservoir removal

Hi,

Does anyone know how to easily remove the F1 Fluid Reservoir?

I need to remove it as the main fluid feed pipe from it has a giant split and needs to be replaced.

Any advice on a way around this would be appreciated as it looks like a real pig to get at!

Would you not just cut the feed pipe and drain it into something if you are replacing it? I have a zf so have no idea btw. Just my logic if it is the main feed from the reservoir.

There are other pipes that connect to the pump that seem ok and this will prevent me from cutting and removing as is.

what car ? My 2006 QP has similar issue. Was thinking about partial gearbox drop to improve access.

The access via boot seems to be relevant to previous cars, the 4200 and Gransport. Had all of the boot liner out and no way through.

Yeah I have tried to access from the boot but think I may need to gain access from below to remove the pipe to the pump.

Tried the link doesn't work, must be to old to show but thanks anyway!

thats odd. It works for me. Try this one

The other end of the pipe from the reservoir is the union to the pump at the bottom. Perhaps removing that will allow it to be removed from the top.

I did mine from underneath many years ago - tight but doable.
Thanks, once the rain stops I'll get under and have a look. Out of interest did you just refill the fluid and it was ok or did you need a system to bleed it?

Not sure if there is a manual bleed point for the F1 system on the GS?

Finally got it out with some persuasive action from top and bottom.

Pic shows between index finger and thumb pipe was split both sides.

This is the pipe connecting to the pump, suspect this has been the cause of my weeping leak for some time.

Pleased I caught it now before it fully opened!

Off to pirtek hope they can make replacements for the unit.

As I replaced some extra pipes I bled underneath the car at both bleed points (clutch end and underneath gearbox) using a suction type bleeder and also later with someone opening the door to prime the system with the normal method. This should get you going although I took mine to a specialist to have it bled again just to be sure.

Just a quick note, will it be safe to use my easi bleed pressure system on the F1 Fluid Reservoir cap or is it recommended to just fill use a vacuum pump and bleed from the quick release nipple?

Brilliant work! Is the black cylindrical object the reservoir? (maybe accumulator?)
Did you get all of this out working at home, underneath the car? Was about to send mine to workshop.

Black container is the F1 Fluid Reservoir, completed the removal at home.

Work requires access from the bottom and I already had the boot lining removed which helped to gain access from the top also.

Pirtek could supply all replacement hoses except the pipe from reservoir to pump as this is a specific reinforced pipe with different diameters each end.
