Wow this is great!! Do you think you might of bumped it lose when trying to bleed it beforehand? In either case I'm happy that you got it working. Now when you get a chance get it read on a computer to make sure you have everything covered. I think you've got the bleed technique down now as well after you figured out it's not a bleed nipple on the solenoid block.:blushed: Lol.........That's great Olly I'm real happy you got your baby up and running. Hopefully Monday I'm going to take the plug and by A/E scanner with the Ferrari/Mas. Enhancements so I could scan these cars myself. Though you're a world away at least I should become more proficient in helping people on the forums as well.

Cheers Craig! I suppose it must have worked loose as I was fiddling around that area but it still looked as if it was connected properly. Arghh! Hopefully it will solve the problems I've had - I'll get it checked out properly by a specialist as soon as I can get it to one.

In the meantime it would be useful if I could still check the priming on/off times - when the car is at idle how often can people hear their pumps running??

Olly if my dash was together I would go out and tell you now. I'm hoping one of the other gentleman here can give you a definite answer. Anything I can afford is a guesstimate right now because I've never honestly took a watch or stop watch to time the intervals. But surely someone can take a few minutes and do that for you so you feel a little more comfortable with your situation.

Evo, I can't hear mine at all when Idling. Certainly initial prime from cold is about 4 seconds, but I think every 30 seconds seems too frequent :(

Maybe someone else can get better numbers

I had a little measure on my car. When switching on the ignition the pump primes for about 3 seconds and then does not prime again for 6 minutes. If I shift in and out of first gear and reverse it primes again after every second shift. This is cold so I suspect it will be sooner when the fluid is hotter.

Not sure why it would be more frequent with hot fluid, Zep.

Sounds like the OP's pressure may still be too high

I should explain! I have been thinking about how the system would work based on the symptoms Evo has been getting. We have confirmed that the system pressure is regulated by the ecu using the pressure transducer so I was wondering why the screw was needed at all. I think it is a bleed from the pressure side of the system back to the reservoir, the intention being to make sure that there is some circulation in the system to aid cooling etc. This would explain the overflow Evo had from the reservoir when the screw was too far open. Thus when the fluid is hotter the viscosity is lower and the bleed back is quicker. I am sure that the pump primes more regularly after a run, I will go for a spin this week and let you all know if it is the case.

Cheers fellas! My pump runs on power on for about 4 secs and then when I first open the door for about 1sec only now I have the pressure switch attached. I can hear the pump prime on every 2nd shift when ignition turned to on. When the car is idling it runs every 65 secs now, for about 3 secs each time. This is a great improvement on 30 secs! The fluid level is OK now and I don't get any running out of the top anymore.

According to the Maserati Academy docs the screw I was faffing with is a pressure relief valve. This is to prevent damage to the F1 system system components if pressure produced by the pump becomes too high. It is normally set to open at 90 bar and dumps oil to the low pressure side of the circuit.

Ah, I liked my theory for a while anyway. Sounds like you've got it cracked!

I have read a few time people asking where the F1 header tank and associated pipes are, this from above image may assist.
