Has anyone looked into the Extra10 warranty program?

It’s a paid product and covers engine and drivetrain.

I wonder if things like cam cover gaskets could be included? The price may will make it not worth it, but just a thought

Very interesting and good to see they are trying to instill confidence in the brand.
However, as engine, gearbox and drive train issues are fairly rare on GT/QP not sure we'd benefit much. It'll all depend on the small print. Most of the variator issue cars will be too old already.

Pretty sure batteries, engine gaskets, Abs sensors, AC compressors, suspension bushes are all wear items, and it doesn't cover chassis corrosion..... So no good for any of the known issues

Not sure if it will be more use on ghibli, levanti etc..?

My car had a transmission failure and was replaced under the old warranty whilst in the second owners stewardship. I reckon Maserati passed on the costs to ZF under a supplier contract. So I'd imagine they'd do the same under the Extra10 warranty. in order to have these really long term warranties the manufacturer has to have some support from the OEM parts suppliers.

It states that the car must be checked by the Maserati dealership chain at regular intervals. I think that the profit for Maserati lies in the service cost. Bad news for independents. I do agree it does send a good signal, Maseratis are seen as unreliable and expensive when they break so a strong vote of confidence from the manufacturer is a good sign.

Well i'm pleasantly surprised its transferable... but suspect there are a number of caveats re servicing. Our Volvo must be done every 12 months or at 12k miles, and you can only deviate by 1 month or 1k miles from that without invalidating the warranty... and of course if you are the second buyer that scheduled may have been breached whilst with the previous owner or whilst sat at the dealer.

Didn't someone argue that as long as the garage was competent , via Good Garage Scheme or similar, the manufacturer's warranty was still valid.

This was pre-Bre**t but was European wide..

Yes they did but as you well know insurance companies have 2 big offices...one to take the money and one to invalidate any claim and one small office open once a fortnight to pay the claim.

This only applies to new car warranties. The first 3/5 years typically. Where you can legally still claim on warranty even if you use another garage for servicing as long as the parts are genuine.
Any ‘extended’ manufacturer warranty however (which is usually just a branded insurance based product) can then have terms set by the manufacturer. This is when it states your car MUST be serviced at a main dealer to the specific miles/dates, with very little wriggle room.
