Word of warnings. If you read that you can swap to the plug and play the electric dim mirror....

Cracked the underside of my windscreen when fitting the new rear view mirror... hoping I can claim through autoglass

My 2002 Spyder has a dimming mirror courtesy of pre-purchase rectification work I specified from the dealer that I bought it from 7 years ago. The original was cracked and they told me this was the Maserati specified replacement, which I was quite happy about.

Out of interest, how did you manage to crack the glass? I only ask as I have used those kits in the past with glue and a mesh pad to stick a mirror on another car. It seemed OK but I’d like to avoid cracking the glass if I ever have to do it again.

Yep was a nightmare. Silly question by the way with the auto dimming mirror do you need to sort the fuse out to get it to work. Plugged it in but can't see any difference... @Devonboy

At the risk of stating the bleeding obvious, have you shone a light on it? It only dims when exposed to light. Might also need the headlights.....

I thought the sensors would indicate power... like have a green light or something. So if I shine light it should dim?

No - no power indicators, it just works, at night , with headlights behind you. I'm still bemused as to how you cracked the windscreen.....Chapeau
When I select Reverse, a green light illuminates on mine. No other indication that it’s working apart from the dimming.
Well in that case seems I may not have this connected right because there seems to be no indication its working. I'll have a look at it the day Autoglass are coming out and make sure it's wired in right. Assume the correct approach is to connect the wire to the sensor on the windscreen and then chase the wire up to plug in to the loom which is what I did?

swapped this on my 2006 QPV using donor saved from my last Alfa 166. Almost certain there was a small ( trapezoidal) metal mounting bracket glued to the glass. Lift up or prise off the plastic cover to reveal.
