I remember my mates father had an Old English White with red leather one. Think I'd be about 10. Used to love getting picked up in it.Really missing my old Rover P5B Coupe which I sold last December, it was my second and although it wasn't a minter, it was by far the better of the two...

They did a P5 on the new episode of wheeler dealers a couple of weeks ago
Before I decided I wanted a Maserati I was thinking about getting a euro box and a classic, the P5B coupe would have been top of the list

As testament to their suitability, the last batch of P5Bs to roll off the Rover line in June 1973 were purchased by the British government and placed in storage, to be released for government use as required:[9] subsequently registered relatively new looking P5s were therefore still familiar sights in Westminster for more than a decade after production had ended.
If you could find a car that wasn't put on the road until the 80s then just used as and when that'd be an investment.

I bought a '66 230SL Pagoda about 10 years ago, used it almost daily for three years and then sold it for double what I paid for it. I needed cash for a business, so the Pagoda had to go and I still want to kick my ****.
It was a LHD manual, far from pristine - almost a bit tatty, but mechanically excellent. It was utterly reliable and an amazingly practical every day classic. The previous owner had replaced the rear silencer box with two small straight through units, so it had a superb exhaust note.
if I think what I'd have to pay now to buy Pagoda in similar condition.....
