Just wondererd how those who had the DMS remap have been getting on ie what has it improved, what is the same and what if anything is the downside.

About to pop over and take the plunge. Got a bit nervous before as the car is a keeper but now I have the gts bilsteins fitted I thought I might go the whole hog.

Dan had it on his GT S and found no difference at all........I'm sure he will be along but he thought it was a waste of money. Matt and Dan had a head to head with Matts standard GT S and both cars identical.

Bet the Blisteins make a difference though.

Only of use when tracking it.......so you can nearly max it...normal driving.....none of us get near taking the car to its limits so we can benefit from more BHP

Unbelievable difference, so planted but no harder. If anything it is very slightly softer than the Sport setting on the Sport GT. The car also sits lower which looks better IMO.

I couldn't recommend it. As Andy mentioned above we tested it and there was no noticable difference.
As per the graph there was a significant increase in power and torque, taking it to 505bhp. In that respect the chaps at DMS did a great job, its just that you won't feel or notice any difference.

I'm sure there's other ways to spend a grand and get noticable changes.

Thanks for that, just in time me thinks. Always worried about long term impact especially as I took so much care running it in etc.

IIRC fcz360 on here had it done. Whilst performance was no different his GTS MC is smoother to drive.

I went down the Formula Dynamics DBW and ECM route and have to say that it feels like a different (much improved) car. Acceleration feels faster, more 'linear' - you keep your foot down and the car just feels like it has more and more to offer. Then put it into sport mode and the car feels even more of a beast.

Definitely one of the best mods I've done to the car (QP Sport GT Auto).

As shak has pointed the DBW and ECM make a significant noticeable difference difference to the car. Its a difference that you can feel and experience, rather than just a number on a print out that is unnoticeable.

DBW - Drive by Wire Module, works directly on the Gearbox ECU
ECM - Electronic Control Module, a piggy back ecu to your existing engine ecu!

The DBW optimises the Maserati's Drive By Wire system to provide more response and performance. Designed to unleash the low end torque of the car earlier in the rev range. Remove lag from a standing start and increases each gear change speed.

ECM - Much like a remap, this can be tailored to your needs, with the advantage of it being a piggy back ecu, can be removed from the car, for a standard setup or moved onto your next Maserati.

Most people I've spoken to say the DBW is more noticeable than an ECM. Link below:

http://www.formuladynamics.com/

Yes the effect of the DBW kicks in from start all the way through the rev range. An option would be to start off with the DBW and then add the ECM if you feel the need to add more 'top end' power (more horsepower and torque from 3,500 rmp and up). The DBW and ECM perform very different roles in this respect.

Had been thinking about this for the longest time since reading rave reviews by US customers. Finally bit the bullet and have literally not looked back. :)

Thanks for all that, I have some reading to do.
I like the idea of having a choice.

Sounds like DBW is the way to go over a remap if it's a straight choice between the two.
