Cross posting

would like to hear from any other members who would like cross posting from this forum to the other.

not interested in the rules , politics, grievances, reasons, he saids, she saids. if anyone wants to go down that route then by all means start your own thread and light the touch paper.

just think it would suit everyone and save all this double posting and siding issues. these forums are, after all for members not moderators.

I have developed a great passion for the marquee. The forums have done a great deal to help develop that. The forums are wonderful resourses for gaining knowledge of my "baby", meeting people with similar interests, and having a bit of banter to lighten a thought/situation a bit. I would hope that people would not feel put off, or not want to share their questions, knowledge, and passion. I also want to thank everyone for their help, and making the forums as they are. I think it's a good idea, in the name of helping others, to cross post relevant questionsproblems and knowledge/solutions.

What's the big deal...
These are public forums, post what you want, where you want,
read what you want and leave out what you don't.
As long as you abide by the rules appropriate to the individual forum
and can stand by what you post, then so what.
These forums are for everyone, including the moderators and owners.

Its a very good idea Rob providing all things being equal to all members ,

If things were reciprocal then i totally agree it would be a good idea , but the fact is they are not ,

Guys, as you know we are a members forum, free from the restrictions of advertising budgets, and to which you are invited to post and share your experiences, both good and bad without fear of moderation.

All funding is from a selected fews own pockets.

To give you an idea of what these amounts are, the dedicated server that this site sites on cost in the region of £100 per month, plus the development of the site, maintenance and new features costs £60 per hour, so as you can see, the people behind this site pay a significant amount each month without the need to recover those costs.

This should give you some idea of the dedication, to bring you the members, a free forum. All we ask is the support from our members.

I echo Loz's views above, and do not want to turn into some political debate, remember, this forum exists because we were not getting what we wanted from over the road, and offers to help were declined.

As it stands, this site is in its infancy, so am weary to offer links to a competitor, until we are: a) more established and b) the links are reciprocal.

This forum is like a football club, only as good as its supporters, and totally take onboard that this cross/duplicate posting is not ideal.

So in the spirit of fairness, I extent the olive branch to Brian to contact me, either by PM or in open discussion and if he is willing to stop blocking cross posting, we will do the same.

Remember, this is not something we started, but we are instigating a resolve.

I agree ENZ525, but it is a pain in the ****. i also think the community is to small for 2 forums and in the end there may only be one.

Gavin started MF and funded it up until the last few months out of his own pocket just like you guys, Gavin is a great guy and did a fantastic job getting MF of the ground, but unfortunately he got to the point where he could no longer afford to run it,

at some point some of the people who are contributing to the cost this forum will leave putting more burden on the ones who i are left, if you don't get new blood to contribute it will have to try and go the way of MF or die.

what ever you think about the way Brian runs MF, the fact is he bought it and kept it going when no one else would or could and to be fair he had to make the rules because of the sponsors, i don't like it but credit where credit is due, and lets also not forget you all loved him to start with and fully backed the way he was taking the forum

Sorry but it seems to me that you are that **** bent on beating MF for reasons i don't fully understand that your judgment seems to me somewhat clouded

The funding on this forum will always remain, its ultimately my responsibility, and I run my own web design agency, so dont worry about the funding running out, its not going to happen.

A valid point though Steve, thank you.

It might be a pain in the ar#e, but hey...lots of sh#t in life is like that.
I personally don't find it a problem...if you do, then work out a way round it.
You have no idea what my motives are...and I don't actually care what you think.

And just to be clear Steve...I have never tried to undermine anyone, in business or my personal life.

Steve,

I for one certainly, was very wary of Brian taking MF down the commercial route and made my feelings well known at the time , my posts were and are still there for everyone to see, and exactly the points i mentioned at the time came true , Brian tried to make out how difficult it was to keep everyone happy NOT True , and he's continued to hide behind anonymity ever since he took over, which Gavin never did and doesn't happen on here , we fully intergrate and participate as did Gavin Unfortunately Brian cant say the samething , I personally had lot of dealings/correspondence with Brian over 18 months and most would be really surprised and change their tune/ opinions if they were to read half what i recieved ,

After a lot of personal effort and 4000 plus posts yes i was truly gutted , but being the sort not to sit on my **** we did somthing about it instead of just talking about it

It is how it is , we shall continue to try and do what the members want with the members interests foremost , that was our mandate and it hasn't changed

I will add that as i see nothing wrong in trying to achieve to be No 1 whatever your craft ,

regards loz

Agree Enz except for the rules bit. This forum was set up to be free from rules why not try to keep it that way. Ok, except for the swearing.
One thing I keep thinking about is the naming and shaming ban over there. I was expecting to see at least a few over here. Maybe I missed them as there are a lot of posts and I don't get the opportunity to read everything.

Getting back to Rob's point, if it benefits the Maserati owner and otential owners it must be a good thing.

Gos Gavin forgot about him. Top chap and it was because of him I found the MF......It was his grey 3200 that made me take the plunge

i was kind of hoping we could keep the thread free from the reasoning for and against and just look for support to move forward to make cross posting to and from maseratiforum possible. there have been some excellent links here( and there) from sites such as maseratilife and pistonheads etc which bring tremendous information and talking points for us all to comment on. because the members on mf and here are fundamentally the same it is very clumsy having to double post when links back and forth would make debating and commenting much more efficient. it seems somewhat pointless to discourage cross posting to the one site on the net that has a similar function to this one but allow any others.

so now i go over the road and put the same case to brian!

Chuckling like mad Rob suggest you try linking to SM several times in various threads and see how long they stand , will be an interesting experiment , to see whether you get one strike or two ,

I just wish there was only ONE forum where everyone was happy instead of two competing for the same audience.
It has been noted that SM was probably set up because MF didn't deliver for some people and I respect their good intentions. As has been mentioned, the Maserati community is small compared to other marques and surely it would be better to sing from the same hymn sheet. The singers seem to be largely the same crew with many others just miming.
Still, it's not my money or my rules so those that rule can decide the way forward - I'm just putting a punter's point of view.

Just think there is always room for more than 1. Most on here (unless banned) post on both and I'm sure that will continue. But as with everything one will always flout to the top but thats just life. I would not want the MF to stop and will continue to support. But even before the SM I wasn't going on MF nearly as much over the last 6 months....What I have found with SM is that it's been a breath of fresh air and that includes the other forums I frequent. So for me I haven't stop using MF because of SM...Just found myself drifting away.
