Hi All, i joined a few years ago to get the lowdown on Maserati's, thought it was time i got a bit more involved!
I was initially looking at a Gransport, but now i am drawn to the Granturismo! My current car is a 2004 996 C4S with aerokit, a very good looking car. But compare it to a Granturismo and its the ugly duckling in comparison!
I just cant seem to make up my mind, the value of my car is creeping up nicely, Granturismos are still falling. I just cant get away from the fact.....its a Maserati!, possibly the best looking car ever made to date in my opinion.
Has anyone here made the same move? I understand its a different type of car, sports to GT cruiser, and that maintenance/fuel will cost considerably more. I keep looking on autotrader every day, thinking to myself i would like to get one this year!

A very warm welcome to you. I sure a few x Please Porsche owners can help you with this one..... As you say they are two very different car indeed. The 4.2 GT may feel a little slow after your Porsche but the 4.7 GT would be closer to what you are used to but more GT than sports car. As you mentioned the GT is just a stunning motor car that will bring a massive to your face every time you look at it and drive it....have we mentioned the noise as well....

I have a version of the 16V Integrale, all the best bits in a more rigid Alfa saloon shell (well as rigid as Alfa could build a shell in the 90s). Just about to kick off yet another rebuild this time to fast road spec - standard looking but packing a significantly bigger punch from the 16V Turbo heart. Should be fun :)

Hi, as a fellow Porsche 996 owner I was presented with this choice when I bought my 911, do I buy a Porsche or do I but a Maserati, at the time I bought the 911 and have never regretted it, absolutely love it and have no intention of selling it, however there was an itch that needed itching and when I landed a contract with a rather large film production company requiring a number of regular meetings over the next 4 years, I looked at my Merc at the time and although exceptionally reliable it looked old, even though it wasn't that bad, so what do you look for?

The choices were limited, it had to be a four door as I needed it for business, I looked at the Bentleys and even a RR, but that gave the wrong image and I felt would not go down well my clients, let alone popping down to the shops for bog rolls or tea, I dismissed the Merc AMG 6.3 as although it sounded nice the bodywork was just like a standard Merc, no it had to be something understated but cool and luxuries but not over stated, I had been there and done it with Jags and BMW's, so when I revisited the Quattroporte my mind was set and I have absolutely no regrets on my decision whatsoever.

I bought from a dealer as I knew that if there were problems then I would be safe with repairs etc. and this proved to be a wise move as even the best looking cars can hide a few things.

If I were buying again at the price I paid then I think I would always go through a dealer, if I were to purchase something in the £10-15K bracket then I would be receptive to a private sale.

Have a word with Dicky Grace www.richardgracecars.co.uk as a number of members recommend him and he does seem to offer excellent value vehicles with top back up facilities.

Welcome along Mr Gill. You won't go far wrong with a GT and of course the noise, particularly from a GTS is just sublime.
Have a chat with Dicky & Nareman @ Nuvola who will be able to pass on plenty of pearls & good luck
