Looks lovely, and being later, has the Bora dash. Should have no problem finding a new home.

Thanks for the mention and comments gents. It really is a special car, really pleased to have it for sale. We've another 4 cars due in the next week or so that are equally special too.

Congratulations on yet more amazing stock, Dicky. I don't know where you keep turning these peaches up from. That Merak is simply stunning! To think that not so long ago these 70s Maseratis were not especially desirable (remember the fake SS Clarkson bought for a Top Gear programme for £10k!) and some are now fetching serious prices. I also love the red GTS you've got - a stand-out colour for sure on this model and one that really suits it. Sadly my lottery win did not materialise again this week - would probably help if I actually bought a ticket!

Can't wait to see what other special cars you're getting in.

Thanks MAF, always nice to get new cars in when they're as good as this. I was looking earlier at the others for sale on Car & Classic and there's a lot who are asking far more or 'POA'; We have sold two other Meraks this year, one for more money, one for less. We've priced it very fairly I believe and I don't think it'll hang around. All the cars I think that about are usually the ones we've still got 6 months later! We'll see.....

The GTS does look stunning in Rosso Mondiale, strangely it looks darker than the Rosso Mondiale 4200 we sold the other day.

Lovely car but the Merak just doesn't do it for me, Emblem had a stunner in when I was there on Friday.

Love that Merak, for me it's a better looking car than the Bora - I always preferred the side view and the rear treatment too - the proportions are just perfect.
Good luck with the sale Dicky, as if you need it!

Seriously when you consider the prices of equivalent aged Ferrari's this is such such good value. It's massively undervalued and IMO as I already said to Dicky on the phone priced to sell and maybe even underpriced when there are non SS version out there for £65k and POA cars!!!!

I am trying so hard to do the man maths on this car!

Lovely lovely car & would be very tempted if I didn't need my cash elsewhere at the mo.
I think the price is right and fair. Very nice example & car maybe with higher price if full history. I guess unusual for 37 year old car to have full history though & would start to hit ceiling for the model if so.
Presents good value for money imho in current market. A nice place to have 50 odd k invested.

While I get exactly what you are saying about the Ferrari bit....it certainly looks a bargain compared to then similar age Ferrari.....one question I have is it as good as a Ferrari of that age.....Never driven one so wouldn't know but if back in the day the Ferrari was regarded as best in class and the Maserati wasn't then surely this would have an effect on classic value...Does anyone know?

You would be buying it predominantly for looks and 70s nostalgia. They drove ok, but it is a different generation. 0-60 in 7 odd seconds, only 200 to 220 hp, so by no means fast by todays standards. Likewise relatively skinny tyres plus Citroen braking system, it has a pedal, but just operates the button.

The Merak competed with the F 308. Main issue is that the 308 is a V8 and the Merak a V6, and when you factor in the purity of the 308 versus the Citroen bits in the Merak I think 9 out of 10 people would say the Ferrari is more desirable car. One factor in the Merak's favour is rarity - I think there are 5 times as many 308's out there.
On price 308's range from £50k to £180k. The most expensive ones are the early carbs fibreglass models, but you can pick up a mid model fuel injected car for about the same money as a Merak.
