Okay, so look call me crazy I was on ML, I mentioned a listing specifically to another member who was going through this big ordeal out west of me in the States who was getting his entire F1 system replaced. I basically told the guy he should not be paying for all of the stuff he was. I mentioned this ebay listing. Then I did something I really thought nothing of.

First I ran the OEM number for the ebay listing that was selling a complete brand new F1 system. The complete system came back close to $10,000 USD. Though I know the system definitely cost that this guy was selling it for $8895.00 USD. So I thought I am going to offer him a ridiculous price for it for giggles.........$6675.....it was a $22xx.00 less than what he wanted. Well here's the kick in the seat of the pants..........the guy accepted the offer! Yes I'm dead serious. I have only one problem, I won the auction paid for it, now what do I do with it? The guy out West is selling his car and I'm beside myself to be honest. But I don't know anyone close to me that needs it. So I figured I would come to the forums. If anyone is interested please PM me. I will give it to you what I got it for plus shipping. It will fit the 4200, GS or the Duo-select Quattroporte. If no one on either forum is interested I will I guess just re-list it higher on ebay but I don't want to do that before I give the brothers a chance to get something they probably will never get for this cheap again:

Can I ask the likelihood of someone needing a whole new F1 system (other than they guy who has now sold his car?)?

wiring looks great, actually the hoses.

I have to invent a good project to fit the pistons, rods etc first :)

It's funny I thought I read all the posts, and was following the coffee table conversation. Came back and realized that you and Safrane actually mentioned something I had not seen.

Likely hood of someone needing an entire F1 system.....and dividing the parts up.

To be honest, what I find is that many places would rather replace the entire F1 system than diagnosis individual parts. Without being too harsh I really honestly think it's because they don't know how to but that's another story for another time.

I understand part of the mentality. For instance some of the parts have a similar shelf life. For instance, say you have a 2002-05 car with higher mileages. It comes in with an Actuator issue. Diagnostics show you have high Solenoid leakage rates as well. So depending on the shop they will want to use newer parts, they will need to likely replace the F1 pump as well because the pump was over compensating for the over spec. Leakage rates.

Taking as a whole the only thing honestly you won't be replacing is the accumulator and the various sensors and hydraulic hoses that come as the whole power unit.

But since we mentioned the accumulator, for our cars it's a piston type hydraulic accumulator and the service life on that is about 12 years. You will need to drop the gear box to replace it. So for the shops that know what they are doing chances are they are going to purchase that as a pre-caution to the customer coming back in a very short time after doing thousands of dollars in replacement parts.

As you can see with the price tag for the parts individually, you are already close to the price tag of replacing the unit as a whole.

This is why I probably won't be dividing it up as well only because I am seeing more and more cars in the U.S. reaching the end of their shelf life for their F1 systems and shops replacing the entire power unit.
