Much the same as I heard whilst in Modena last month. The Alfieri design is being stretched to fit the Ghibli floorpan which will reduce tooling and production costs but the fear is for me that it will not accept the V8t and more than likely stick with the V6t with slightly boosted power to near 500bhp which itself isn't bad but still not a V8

From the news it would be doubtful that right hand drive versions will be here until early 2019. The Alfieri will be toast by then as even Kia and Hyundi are launching stuff that makes you sit up and notice.

Keep the GTs and GSs. never have Maserati in their history had a current body model for 12 years................

Same size at the GT which only has two doors.

A new chassis is needed for the new GT. It would be better to shrink that for the Alfieri. Unless they are thinking of a Ghibli Coupe or Cabriolet....

I rest my case :) The GT is hyuuuge. I did think the Ghibli was bigger though

The GT and Ghibli us the same floor pan.
However, both are still smaller than my E-Class.

I needed to check to see if one would fit in the garage. ;)

I'll google the dimensions

4,971 mm L
1,945 mm W
1,461 mm H

For the Ghibli

Length 4,923mm
Width 1,852mm
Height 1,468mm

For the Merc.

I stand corrected.

The E-class is slightly bigger than the GT though.

This surprises me a lot.

But, I have a deep suspicion that the dimensions are lies. It seems way bigger than any of the comparisons :)

That's the funny thing.

The Ghibli felt narrower than my Merc and the Merc had more room inside.
One for the reasons I went for the Merc.

Driving an E class home last night up the M5 the E class felt narrower in the roadworks than the Ghibli had driving down. The layout is much more sloped away inside so that gives an impression of more room. I'm still struggling with why anyone would think that's a good position to put the e-brake on the Merc though. Maybe its there because it has to be rather than anyone actually using it.

The only time my e-brake is used is when it's either been in for a service or MOT and is used by someone else!
I've never used it!
