Clutch issue?

I was stuck in London traffic for best part of an hour yesterday but as it started to end and open out, I started to speed up from a crawl (gentle acceleration) only to be met with an extremely violent jerking motion and rapid revving for about 5 seconds. It was a little scary and worrying that perhaps my clutch had been overworked and might be on its last life (has done ~30k miles and recent clutch wear report was 60%). Then I thought later perhaps it could have been a software malfunction as it hasn't recurred again yet (thankfully) and it almost felt like an electronic failure rather than mechanical, if you know what I mean. It seems to have settled and feels back to normal - has anyone else had this experience? It occurred to me much later that maybe it could have been because I pulled away in 2nd (though I can't be certain) at very low speed and was simply in the wrong gear (I often forget to change down in the MC-Shift!)...should it behave like this?

Think the car can occasionally get itself in a twist after a long stint in traffic. Others will have more info but if it doesn't do it again after an Italian reset I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Italian reset- does that involve disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it again?

Disconnecting the battery isn't going to do anything to the TCU. Where abouts in London are you?

TCU = Transmission Control Unit.

I have a little spare time tomorrow morning - I'd be happy to pop over and plug the car in to the diagnostic machine if you want it checked out.

If it helps they can be a bit odd sometimes. Mine occasionally tits about and then settles on second. Only very seldom, but it still does it. My clutch is about 5k old.

I look forward to learning what Voicey concludes - he's something of a God on these matters.

Mine does the same but soon clears itself. I think sometimes it is not in the gear that the display says that it is but it soon works itself out

They're built for the open road, no mistake. Mine was a joy through the Swiss Alps last week . Never happier.
