Clear protective vinyl wrap, yes or no?

Hi Everyone

I have done about 2000 miles since picking up my GTS, in varying conditions ranging from motorway drives and country blasts. On the country roads near where I stay the council have a habit of doing the most half assed job with some thing they call 'road resurfacing' which entails dumping tonnes of loose gravel and stones on the road and then leaving it, great idea, not! I am sure you have all experienced this!

I have noticed a bit of 'road rash' appearing particularly on the lower portion of the doors. Its only really noticeable at close inspection, I noticed it for the first time yesterday while polishing her. However I want to do as much as I can to protect the paint from any further wear and tear.

Would you say getting a full body clear protective wrap is the way forward or just go with it and if a few years down the line it gets much worse then just get some respray work done?

Any thoughts, opinions or experiences related to this appreciated.

Thanks

have never tried a wrap so cannot comment on pros and cons. Re spray every time for me but if you feel brave enough, repair it yourself if it is just chips. Once a year I do a soft paint correction and polish to catch chips and the likes. Basically a 50/50 mix of colour matched paint and lacquer thinly applied to panel sections needing it, mainly the nose, with a microfibre cloth, left to dry (looks horrid at this point) then DA polish down to remove excess. Reapply till chips are flat after polish. An old paint buddy showed me this home shortcut for chips, works fine so long as you use a very light cutting polish.

I'm looking into this for the common stone chip points of my car, the removal is my concern!

Our local council takes the same approach. Completely ****, hence my car is also in need of some attention and potentially a front wrap plus behind the wheels.

Barrie sounded like he was impressed with the protective wrap on his new FF.

I had this protective clear wrap to one of my bikes just after a custom paint job.Bought it off ebay and was cut to fit the panels on my bike.Very easy to apply and it has done a very good job! I have sold the bike with the wrap still there and the new owner didn't even notice it was there!I know topaz london offer this kind of wrap but i don't think is cheap!I'm heading to east europe for a trip with the car in the next 2 weeks so i have ordered this one from ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251909349723?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
