I'm with esure and renewal just came through for like £10 extra ... pleasently surprised
I b have just renewed through Howden (A Plan) and including the fact I have moved to a multi car policy for all four of my cars, premium has gone down which is great.

One thing I had not appreciated (to be fair I had never thought about it) is that with a multi car policy, for things like “legal” and “breakdown” you pay once and get cover on all cars on the policy.

So breakdown cover for #4 cars for the price on #1

The premium for my QP VI had increased by over 30% when due for renewal recently so I used a comparison website to try and beat it. Although the results were somewhat variable, no insurer quoted less than my renewal premium, and Aviva came in at well over £2k which was nearly 4 times the going rate. Go figure.

With all the new technology it appears the powers that be still aren't winning the war against uninsured drivers , just perhaps there needs to be a a rethink , with insurance continually increasing prices year on year with absurdly high premiums no wonder some people feel the need or take the chance to drive uninsured. Just perhaps if premiums were brought down to a more acceptable levels more people would take it up ..............losing ones car when it is taken by police seems to have had little affect when you can go and buy another cheap car for a couple of hundred quid ......probably a fifth of the average insurance policy ....go figure it can only get worse the higher the premiums go , certainly prison isnt the answer as they are already full to the brim ..............................is going back to having something similar to a tax disc in the windscreen ( but for insurance ) or even like some countries used to do (a yearly set of coloured number plates ) be the answer to instantly depict the uninsured ...............there seems to be no visible deterrent the way the system is at the moment

Here in France we have the insurance and contrôle technique on the windscreen so you can easily see the expiry dates of both and the insurance is green hence the green card term.
Crazily there's talks of stopping them and it all going digital as there's camera's everywhere.
I like the number plates with the info on like in Belgium where I've bought a car that works well especially as the plates stay to the person so a car with no plates would stand out like AndyK at a football match.

Like here Phil, the digital camera system isnt working and with the UK being the most cctv'd country in the world we are still losing the battle ....so it definitely isnt the answer to a solution , plus its another infringement to personal liberties and freedom.
It frightens me for the future that the ever enlarging local councils and governments need to increase taxes to pay for themselves and bizarre crazy loss making ideas that waste our hard earned taxes, When the extinction of smoking and having ones personal transport have been removed from a taxation equation , where the helll do they think they will get the money to replace it ...........it'll just be put on salaries or utilities .

It's not just insurance though Loz. Corporates are screwing the h3ll out of everyone just because they can, and there's little that consumers can do without a lot of effort and mobilisation, and that requires sophisticated, well managed, and sustained protest. Companies have a whole raft of excuses to hike prices, from Covid to regional wars, and all shades of grey in between, so we need a consumer champion to stamp on their necks; I know the ideal chap, although he tells me that he's supposed to be resting these days - when not exercising the Bentley ;)

My fight has gone Phil , its a young mans game and its exactly them younguns I fear for.
They dont seem particularly concerned or perturbed by it, probably haven't even noticed it as their heads are so deeply buried inside there mobile phones to even look up and take notice ........... , where are the Council tax warriors ...........or the Greenpeace warriors or the Ban the bomb warriors , or the Miners strike warriors , people used to take so much and then kick off ............Must admit I admire the European farmers ..............no mincing with them ................they have been pushed so far and are now spoiling for a fight , good on them

Totally agree Loz 6 years living here in France and seeing the Yellow Vests take on the Government and now what the Farmers are doing it really shows what can be done with People Power.
Biggest Problem anywhere is Apathy.

To answer Lozcb and his conspiracy theorists friends..

Trust me anpr work Its not rp

I dont doubt that whatsoever , but one doesnt have to be a rocket scientist to realise that any computer is only as good as the information that is fed into it , and if the Mobile police cars arent around with the anpr inside , and the static anpr's have no cars passing by them then no uninsured driver is going to get caught , younger drivers especially are more computer savvy and use social media to know where all the camera's are so they avoid them as best they can ,

Its need police cars out doing their jobs and patrolling, Im reasonably and confidently sure that if we check the stats there are more uninsured drivers now that ever before and that the problem is increasing NOT deminishing even with all the ANPR we have now , More camera's isnt the answer , only a fool would continue to bang his head against a brickwall when he knows hit hurts why continue down the same road ..........the system needs changing , maybe the answer is put a tax on fuel to cover insurance ........kinda pay as you go .............your car sits still and isnt being driven it costs you nowt , if it moving using fuel then you will have paid via the fuel tax

No chance, more tax on fuel? Ridiculous idea. Insurance/tax/MOT dodgers would just fiddle the electric meter and use EVs.

More Police means more personnel. More funding, means raising the council tax which you wouldn't want to pay. The police force have to compete with other industries for workers, and thanks to a few rogue cops it's getting harder to recruit. Therefore they have work smarter with resources to hand.

The successive Prime Ministers keep claiming that there's more Police being recruited all the time.
Why any one would want to be a Police officer these days though is beyond me I tried it back in 1979 and it wasn't for me.
