Christmas tree lights - possible reason ?

Struggling to find the reason behind my dash lighting up every morning after 5 miles or so.

The SD3 reckoned it was an ABS sensor on the nearside wheel, however, changing that at great expense yielded the same error and that has now been firmly ruled out.

One thing that does need doing however, is a lower shock mount bush. It's due to go in for it shortly, however, if there's play in the bush, would that cause the error ? I'm not sure how critical the suspension fixed geometry points are in the scale of things.

Cheers

the reason is ................. you bought a Maserati ;)
Try to roll with it for a while, my 3200 AC used to light up all the time during the first 6 months.

I had the same in wifes Merc, was showing rear nearside sensor. Ended up being a chaffed wire, took an age to track down, not helped that Mercedes use pink wire for everything!!

Glad it's not purely a Maser issue.

I think

In fact - thinking this through, depending on how badly worn the bush is, would this cause the car to sit lower on one side triggering all the lights ? I'm not sure how the ESP/MSP/ABS etc all links in together, but don't want to go round replacing everything at huge cost to find out it's a simple issue.

Incidentally, how easy is the lower shock bush to change and is it worth doing both at once ?

I had to have 1 side re-bushed because it had seized as I think I said so they couldn't track the car with that seized. 280 for 1 set + 80 fitting

Funny how the bushes seize in. Just had all 4 lower wishbone bushes done.

Took 2 days and you REALLY don't want to know the cost.

Cos they don't add any copper slip when they assemble them, water + salt = stitch up! it's not funny for the guy that has to pick up the bill!
Did they track the car for free or did you have to pay for that as well?
My guys said QP bushes are a real pain to do and expensive, guess you found that out!

Tracking has been done - but not sure if I paid or not. Probably !

Just closed my eyes and paid. Made it less painful.

Well - new lower shock bushes and I'm still getting the christmas tree lights.

SD3 still says the nearside ABS sensor, the sensor has been changed, the wiring checked and all is fine, but still the fault code.

One thing it may be though is that apparently some wiring uses old fashioned current and some wiring uses some sort of sine wave pulse ? Anyone know anything about this sort of thing ? Apparently if the two conflict with each other it can throw up issues.

Not had that all checked out yet, but would be interested if anyone has any experience of this sort of thing.

Cheers

If the SD3 still says there's a problem, I'd expect that there's a problem. Either the wiring is screwed, or the ECU is....
