Anyone used this stuff.....Liz's Saab has lots of stone chips on the bonnet but I don't want to get it spryed as its an old car and not worth doing but want a cheap solution just to make it look a bit more presentable........Does this work I wonder..?...Seems to cover them up in the video....

I have some at the moment and the colour match is good but it didn't matter how many times I tried it just looked like a chip with paint in it , ok from a distance but close up not so good . I think it depends on colour though . I had a deep chip on the front bumper and the best way I found was to build it up over a few days untill it was proud and than with 2000 wet and dry sanded back flush using the little sponge there provide as a backing pad than polished it back shiny ,still needs a bit more work though when the weather gets better. .

The colour sanding is the only way but you do have to be very careful.

Another tip is to mix the lacquer with the base coat then apply proud over a few days then colour sand and rotary polisher to finish.

Maverick, how good was it at only applying paint in the chip rather than over the surrounding paint?

I've used it a couple of times, it's not perfect but does take your eye off the chips, they main problem with it is that the blending solution not only removes the excess from the surrounding paintwork it sometimes removes the paint from the chip your trying to fill, so you have to go over it a few times.I've actually still got the Grigio Granito kit I'm my garage and a Audi sprint blue and Porsche Atlas grey.Think I need to get on eBay.

Thanks Lofty. Sounds wortth a go, then. I'm a bit peppered with a few larger chips and some small ones post-Bruntingthorpe. Sometimes a dab of touch up just seems to make the chips look worse so I'll give Chipex a go and see what happens. Sounds like the general advice is that it isn't quite as miraculous as the video suggests but a few layers is needed to get a decent result. And if you want perfection get sanding.

So for £37 it will take eyes of the peppered bonnet then......Worth it for a very cheap car thats not worth getting painted...?

I'm not sure how well it will work on white, I've only used it on dark colours to hide the white primer from underneath, I think it might be slightly disappointing on white, but probably still worth the £30 ish.

Once the weather's a bit less damp I'll order some in Grigio Alfieri and give it a spin. I look forward to opinions from others in the meantime.

(next time I get my snout sprayed I'll immediately get it coated in protective film)

I must confess I have always used a permanent marker on black cars, you will be amazed at the results.

Its an old dealer trick.

Tipex on white is also good

Yellow highlighter on banana ...etc

Have used chipex on med blu and it's good but you can't rush it ...it's a couple of days to build it up...wipe it off with the thinners and apply again.

Worth the £37 IMHO but it's not a £1000 respray but takes the eye off deep chips.

Sounds like good advice, Max. I'll order some but not expect immediate miracles.
