Chipex - paint. Anyone recall the thread about this a couple of weeks ago?

Hi,

I remember reading a thread where one of our members was going to use the product and post some pics. Can anyone remember the thread?

There is so much useful info, you do forget where it is at times.

I have bought it and used it, its a bit dear for a pot of touch up paint and some instructions.... £50 if I recall, better off going to a paint factor with your car, getting a perfect match and making your own kit for about £10.

I'll take that one on the chin...What can I say, I got up too early this morning!!

Well you have to explore the 'wonder products' one day one of them will actually work!

My advise is to have it colour sanded by a pro.

Hi guys

Just a quick little update on this thread based upon my recent experience of Chipex. The bottom line IMO is to not bother.

I was following a truck recently (there are tons of them on the road over here unfortunately) and saw the little blighter of a stone bounce off the back of it and loop up before hitting my roof and taking a decent chip of paint off it. Not happy!!

Anyway I saw the Chipex YouTube clip on the black BMW and it looked very impressive so I ordered it in from the UK to Aus and it arrived nice and quickly so I got into it. I've tried about 6 times now with different techniques but the result is still basically the same - largely underwhelming! Now clearly my car (Blu Nettuno) looks better with no white undercoat showing through but then this could be achieved by a small pot of ordinary 'touch up' paint rather than the $70-odd worth of Chipex and it most certainly does not make the chips disappear or even blend in really. If I was brutally honest, a waste of money given I have a pot of touch up paint :-(

Obviously a professional job would be the way forward and as Conaero stated, maybe one day one of these 'wonder products' will actually work but for me, it sure as **** ain't Chipex!!! Hope this helps save someone else the money!

Cheers
