I'm getting no power to my rear trunk actuator.. I can open the trunk with my keys but there is no power going to the latch.

I want to start with fuses and relays but I don't have a diagram as there is no owners manual in the car.

Can anybody provide me with the diagram or which fuses/relays to check.

Or any other advice as to what I can do.

QP boot locks are a total nightmare. They work one minute you touch them and they die. If you have a descent scanner, go into the actuate function and open and close it.

Obs, check the fuse and conduit first.

We find if they play up just get a new one. £160 plus vat from memory.

Are you referring to the actuator? Solinoid? I did get another one of those but it's not working either. It looks like no power is going to the actual area. It also says trunk is open even though it's closed so there's definitely some electric issue

Just replace the motorised lock unit. Spent ages trying to fix them and it rarely works

I think that's what I'm referring to when I say actuator. The motorized part that unlocks. But I've tried 2 different ones and there is no power going to appear cannot get it to do anything except manually unlocked with the key.

Does anybody know what these 2 wires attach to? They're loose in this section by the section by the OBD2 and I have no idea if they're supposed to be plugged into anything. I don't see a place to plug them in someone and if they're just meant to Only be used if there are some additional features that my car does not have.

Thank you

Have you checked with a volt meter if your getting power to the actuator ?

Check the relay is working by blipping the boot release on the keyfob while touching the relevant relay with your hand. You should feel and hear the relay click. If it does not then pull the relay and bridge the circuit which will prove if the actuator is getting current.

If you have tried a replacement actuator and still nothing then i would suggest you have a break in the wire in the conduit that carries the wire harness into the boot.

Its not uncommon to have spare plugs on the harness in the fuse box area for optional items not installed on your car from the factory.

Its a 1,2,3 process. Check the fuse, check the relay and then check the power to the harness when the boot release is triggered on the fob with a volt meter.

If the fuse and the relay are intact and work then the the wiring after the relay is most likely the issue.

If you want to prove the point further as you have a spare actuator wire that to the relay and blip the boot release on the key. If it fires then you have a break in the harness between the relay and the solenoid of the boot lock.

Sorry. Forgot to mention that the FOB is not programmed. Lost its programming about a year ago. Use the key to unlock and lock the car.

I’m no expert but maybe you’ll get the same result by pressing the boot release button on the dash?

Isn’t there a reset procedure for the A/C? Might be worth trying (if you haven’t already done so).

I have been searching for a reset procedure but I haven't found anything yet. If anybody doesn't know how to do that please share.
Thx

If you use the key to open the boot no current is applied to the actuator.

Remote fob button and dash button do send a current to the boot actuator. So in your case do the relay test but use the dash button to open the boot and listen / feel for the relay clicking.

You also mentioned the boot open light is always on so i would suggest you check the wiring harness as said where it enters the boot in the rubber conduit.

Yes.. I am thinking along the same lines. Order another relay and a used button good conditioni wire harness... We'll be swapping the relay and the wire harness out and see what happens.

You can repair the existing harness with solder sleeves for very little cost.

If the relay doesn't Then I'll take out the harness and inspect it well. Currently don't see any frayed wires.

The mystery continues. I switched the relay. No luck. I had somebody pressed the button on the dashboard multiple times but there was no activity at the relay.

I'm wanting there's a problem further at the car? Does the wire harness that people are talking about Start after the trunk relay?

Take the relay out and check for voltage at the relay socket. If no voltage at the socket then either the socket has a wiring fault further up or the socket itself has a fault.

Have all these faults just appeared at once or developed over time since you got the car ?

The wire harness where breaks usually occur is in the black corrugated tube that goes from the body to the boot lid in the boot. Its after the relay though so if your relay isnt getting power then the issue is before that. Im assuming you have already checked the fuses.
