If I stand on the roof of my house I could probably see that listing mess.

Hopefully the cars will come back to Southampton.

Oh, everyone knows about the Brambles sandbank, on Xmas day they play cricket on it, what a numpty!

Yes saw that on the news. I guess it was listed so much they though it's either capsize or we just ground it ASAP and hope for the best.

Thats a big balls decision to ground such a large ship, hats off!
If its not taken on water, what has made it list so quickly coming out of port?

Possibly taking the first bend by Calshot too quickly so as not to miss the tide. 10 knots.....tight turn.....big lean...oh f..k

My Dad lived in Cowes for 20 years, i've been out there at low tide for a picnic. No way they didn't know it was there so I suspect that the pilot may actually be a hero of sorts. They'll get it off, minimal damage to the vessel (which is much more valuable than it's cargo and separately insured most likely) and they just stopped a massive ship from becoming a huge issue in one of the busiest waterways in the world. Agree with BJL, they'll dredge and wait for the spring rise to get it out. With a cargo on only one third capacity, they should not have moved if stored correctly even with a tight turn. The unpredictable swell of rough open water is worse than a fast turn.

Perhaps it was the fancy electronic handbrakes on the Jags and Landies ? :)

There was a guy on our local news from JCB (there's diggers etc on there as well) & he's worked securing vehicles inside these ships, he said that he would be very surprised if the cargo had slipped as everything is so well secured! I suppose time will tell!

They will scrap them and cliam on the insurance. ..its too much of a risk to their brand and reputation. ..compulsory breaks so plenty of un worn parts for the market on ebay...shame there was no Masers...eurospares could have us covered for years.
