Do we have any? Tried to update the firmware on my Kenwood DNX-8180DABS and it's now stuck in a constant reboot loop saying it cant' read the data :(

I've raised a ticket with Kenwood but I don't expect to hear anything back until Monday. Anyone got any ideas (specifically how to get it working again!) ;)

Nice unit but was known to have software issues when first released.
There should be an option to factory reset - is this what you already tried? If that doesn't work have a trawl around for a boot image. Last resort send it to Fullers.

Another recommendation for the Launch X431 mate as it goes into every module.
Played with everything on that Citroen yesterday.

Cheers. It's been a week of stuff that just should work not.

Tried a different USB stick (not a top notch, Class 10 32G) and now it's churning away as it should. sigh

So we're saying it's a simple case of RTFM?

How do you find the launch system with VAG vehicles Phil ?

I have used it recently on an Audi and while i can get into everything down the the stereo. I found the live data streams not as simple as other vehicles.

Unless im missing something you need to know which of the 255 data blocks relate to which items and not all data blocks are used. I can search through the notes its just not as simple as other vehicles.

I wanted to compare boost called for and actual boost figures but could not find a way to do that with launch.

No it's a case of 'sometimes decent stuff doesn't work' Grrrr ;)

It could read the 32G drive, because it went into update mode. I suspect whatever Update kernel they have in the hardware (as opposed to the kernel in the full firmware) wasn't able to handle drives over nG but why put that in the manual?

Having been warned off the 8180 (by the firm that Kenwood use) I've the unit that precedes it. Basically the same without the carplay interface.
Alright, it wasn't obvious but it's there - re: usb requirements. I was wondering why an excessively large music drive wasn't recognised

Umm, it's not in the upgrade manual. I read it very carefully.

And it will quite happily read the same drive with audio files on it....

Although I have 128G in SD card slot.

Tomorrow it's map update time!

Did you have the audio files on the chip at the time of the update? That might well have been the issue.
That's in the manual too :lol2:

No. I followed the manual very carefully. You should be careful. I might get grumpy ;)
